Adventures at the Fontainebleau Miami Beach

Adventures at the Fontainebleau Miami Beach

Over the holiday weekend last week, Joe and I escaped to Miami for some R & R.  We stayed for the first time at the Fontainebleau and took full advantage of everything the property had to offer.  Besides the pool and beach, I'm excited to tell you about my Miami lipstick wardrobe, the restaurants and of course, share more on the spa that blew me away.

What to Know Before Getting an Ayurvedic Massage

What to Know Before Getting an Ayurvedic Massage

This week in Miami, Joe and I were able to enjoy the Lapis Spa at the Fontainebleau for a few hours.  Typically, when we get spa treatments on vacation, we always opt for deep tissue couples massages.  This time however, something else caught my eye on the spa menu and I'm glad I tried it.  After all, it is part of my job!  With an open mind and spiritual interest, I tried an Ayurvedic massage called Abhyanga, which is an ancient Indian massage therapy that uses a combination of oils according to your Dosha type in order to unblock your chakras and relieve stress.  Dosha? Chakras?  Allow me to explain.  Here's everything you should know before trying an Ayurvedic massage.

Sophia Gushee, Healthy Living Expert & Author

I recently became familiar with the work of Sophia Gushee and instantly wanted to know more about her. As a healthy living expert, she helps people detox their homes!  Cool, right?  In her new book, The A to Z of D-Toxing, she proves that a healthy lifestyle goes beyond eating right and exercising.  Here, she talks detoxing steps, her favorite clean beauty buys and how toxic exposure in the home can lead to hormone disruption.

7 Fresh Beauty Tips & Tricks

Recently, I had the privilege of attending a makeup master class hosted by Colgate Optic White with Celebrity Makeup Artist, Mario Dedivanovic. Mario's most notable clientele includes Kim Kardashian, Jennifer Lopez, Katy Perry, Priyanka Chopra, Chrissy Teigan and Christina Aguilera to name a few.  Mario disclosed a few of his favorite makeup tips and demoed looks to mirror some of this year's Oscar faves. Inspired by the master class, here are some new beauty tips and tricks.

An Ode to Mario Badescu Drying Lotion

An Ode to Mario Badescu Drying Lotion

There's something to be said when I've had a staple in my medicine cabinet for about 10 years. That's right, despite the fact that I try and test everything (especially if it promises to get rid of pimples), I always revert back to this one product – Mario Badescu Drying Lotion.   I'm sure if you haven't already fallen in love with it yourself, you know someone who has.  As the brand celebrates 50 years in business, I felt it was proper to pay tribute to the one product I can't live without.

The Best Beauty Tip I Learned on Set this Week

The Best Beauty Tip I Learned on Set this Week

Last week I was out in LA shooting a campaign and was fortunate enough to have a glam squad that were not only talented, but also truly understood who I was and it was beyond refreshing. As soon as I walked into the trailer for hair and makeup, they both asked about my likes and dislikes and really listened in order to create my look.  For the record – likes include bangs, texture and clean makeup; dislikes are slick hair and anything pink on my face).  It was a fitness inspired shoot so a texturized pony and minimal makeup were brought to life and I couldn't have felt any more like myself, which is important when doing spokesperson work.

An LA Scene Made for the Movies at the Mondrian Hotel

Los Angeles is hands down one of my favorite places in the world.  A strong statement, I know, but I can truly see myself living there eventually.   I'm fortunate that I often get sent there for work and am hoping to be a full-time LA resident one day.  Joe and I are both kind of sold.  This week I was shooting an exciting campaign with People magazine (I can't wait to share it!) and stayed at the Mondrian in West Hollywood.  Of course, after work, I extended my stay and had a drink waiting by the pool for Joe when he got in from the airport.
