For June’s JM Approved on NBC New York Live, I had the opportunity to showcase my favorite summer travel items. From easy grab-and-go meals to baby carriers, I covered a range of items. Check out the segment here!
When it comes to wellness, there’s always something new and trendy popping up. Today, I shared my top skincare, travel, yoga and food picks with Sara Gore and Jacquie Reid of NBC’s New York Live. Check out the segment here.
When I first learned of YO1, an Ayurveda-inspired holistic wellness center nestled on 1,300 acres of property in the Catskills, I couldn’t wait to see what it was all about. As a yogi I know a bit about Ayurveda, an Indian system of medicine focusing on using nature to heal oneself, but was excited to learn more and dive in. Joe and I were invited to experience all the center has to offer over a weekend and were beyond impressed by the service, practitioners, meals, programming and property. I knew as soon as we walked in that I was in the right place when the front desk concierge greeted us by saying, “Namaste.”
Today was a big day! I launched my new branded content segment, JM Approved, with NBC’s New York Live TV. I’m over the moon about this opportunity and will be hosting these segments the first Wednesday of every month to start. Here’s my first segment, “Winter Skincare Tips.”
Even though I’m offered to try them for free all of the time, I’ve never been into body contouring devices or treatments. I believe your body is a product of your lifestyle. If you eat clean and work out regularly, you’ll set yourself up for longterm success. That was until I got pregnant and my postpartum body became a reminder of my tragic loss. I wanted nothing more than to get my body back and begin feeling like myself again. I was and still am willing to try anything.
When looking at all of the trend predictions for the new year and analyzing the products that come across my desk and emails that that flood my inbox, I honed in on trends that I personally think will explode. Here are the top five wellness trends to get excited for this year.
Want to make waiting in the checkout line at Whole Foods feel a little less endless? We took a little shopping trip and found these beauty must-haves are conveniently located right along the check out aisle.
CBD is the latest ingredient seen throughout the beauty industry. From bath bombs to face masks, CBD is derived from the hemp plant and is said to have ample benefits for your skin and body. We gathered some skin care products infused with the magical ingredient so you can try it out for yourself.
I first heard of “Beauty Acupuncture” over lunch with a publicist friend. She wasn’t actually pitching it to me, but telling me of her personal obsession. Of course, visited the woman who coined the term, Dr. Sarah Sajdak at Aquarius Acupuncture in NYC try it. What is beauty acupuncture you ask? Read on to find out how it works.
Last week I had the pleasure of talking about the cruelty free beauty trend on NBC’s New York Live with Jacque Reid and Sara Gore. California is the first state in the US to put a ban on the sale of beauty products tested on animals starting in 2020. I can only hope it catches on sooner than later. Check out the segment for the 411 and some of my favorite brands who already found other means of testing.
Have you noticed? more and more beauty brands are becoming cruelty free. According this Allure article, California became one of the first states that passed a law banning the sales of any products that are tested on animals to be effective starting January 1, 2020. We’re so excited that more companies are taking part in this movement against animal testing and that’s why we’ve gathered some of our favorite cruelty-free brands with some of their latest products.
When I find something I like, I tend to stick to it, but I try almost anything that will promise me fuller, healthier, stronger, shinier hair. So far this year, I've been impressed by more hair products than anything else. Here are the standouts. Make sure to put them on your radar!
Truth is, I rarely ever wear perfume, because it often gives me headaches and now being pregnant, I am extremely sensitive to smell. If you're anything like me then listen up, because I discovered a new line of all-natural perfume oils that are "Jeannine friendly" and completely intoxicating. The line is called Petite Histoire, which in French means "the narrative that intertwines lovers," and is inspired by exactly that - love.
This morning on NBC's New York Live, I had the pleasure of working with Sara Gore and Lauren Scala. I originally pitched a general "New Beauty Gadgets" piece, but the producer (my friend Jess) gave me the challenge of finding new beauty gadgets that were all under $100. A hard task, but I was super impressed by all I found. Check out the segment here.
As I go through new product mailings, I keep products that intrigue or impress me to the side and begin creating categories for round ups like these. Lately, I've received a ton of cool tech-y skincare gadgets that range from $20 - $160 and promise to help reduce the appearance of crows feet, keep your tweezers in check and even act as well as a derma-planing facial.
Ever think your skin needs a serious detox? Welcome to the club. Besides slathering yourself in a clay mask, there are other skincare ingredients that promise to soak up excess oil, unclog your pores and balance out your skin. Here are our top five.
Even though I get a ton of luxury beauty products to test out, most of what I use is actually from the drugstore. This new exfoliator, razor, masking kit, highlighter and skincare are all in my vanity or shower right now.

When I found out I was pregnant, I looked in my medicine cabinet, tossed my retinol and stocked it with all-natural products from brands I truly love like Tata Harper. However, with a little help from my go-to dermatologists, (who have all had babies themselves), I was relieved to learn that I didn't need to go 100% natural with my skincare regimen. These derm-approved finds are free of ingredients pregnant women need to steer clear of like retinol and salicylic acid.
From nails and lips to eyes and cheeks, here are our favorite new beauty buys that you're guaranteed to fall in love with.
When I first moved from the city to Hoboken a little over four years ago, I was convinced that I was going to hate it. A typical New York attitude. Today, I can't express how much I absolutely love this little city and am so proud to call it home. Of course, I did my fair share of exploring and testing out all of the beauty and wellness offerings the town has to offer. While I still go to NYC for many of my services (see my round up of the best salons and spas in NYC here), I found some real talent in Hoboken. Here's my edit of the best of beauty and wellness in Hoboken.
I had such a great time last week with the ladies of NBC New York Live TV. This month, I focused my segment on how you can up your #SelfCareSunday regimen. Of course face masks and hair masks are expected, but in this segment, we chat about new products and techniques that'll make your self-care routine even more pampering than it already is. Click here to watch and enjoy!
A month or so ago, I attended a summit by the Global Wellness Institute where the medicinal properties of mushrooms was a super hot topic. Turns out, research is being done to prove that magic mushrooms could be “better than existing treatments” for anxiety, depression and addiction. Today, we’re seeing mushroom infused coffees, chocolates and skincare products. Here, I investigated their benefits when ingested and applied topically.
Coconut oil offers a multitude of beauty benefits. Here are some of our favorite coconut oil infused beauty buys. Happy pampering!
Truth is, I'd rather BUY than DIY anything, but some beauty treatments are worth the extra effort. Cinnamon is a warming spice that can be added to almost anything from your coffee to your oatmeal to help you feel grounded and nourished during the cold winter months. It's also great for your skin as it helps to boost circulation. Here's an easy DIY cinnamon face mask recipe that only takes two ingredients from your kitchen.
Good news! More and more beauty brands are creating products for active women like us. Here are some of our favorite products to use before, during and after a workout.
Last week on NBC's New York Live, I showcased "Gold Medal Worthy Beauty Buys" in honor of the Olympics. These products are from all different countries, but have had cult followings in America for quite some time. Check out the segment here.
I'm really excited to host an interactive fragrance event at Annick Goutal's Upper East Side boutique next Thursday, February 22nd. The event is open to the public (but you must RSVP) so if you love reading my blog, are a beauty fanatic or just want to come have a few cocktails, grab a few friends and join me! Here are details along with the RSVP email.
Today I had the pleasure of visiting my friends at NBC to do another segment on New York Live with Sara Gore and Jacquie Reid. It was so much fun, because I brought Amaya with me (and mom, of course) to meet the team. It was the first time I got to show off my baby girl in a work environment and I couldn’t be prouder. Anyway, here’s the segment in case you missed it. Out of all of the top beauty sellers on Amazon, these are my favorite and they’re all under $20.
