Hot Beauty Ingredients to Try This Year on NBC's New York Live

View more videos at: http://nbcnewyork.com.

It was a fun morning on New York Live! I love going on this show because it's lifestyle oriented and the hosts, Sara and Jaque are so much fun to work with because they're genuinely interested in what's happening in beauty. Today I spoke about some of 2013's hottest beauty ingredients to look out for and why they work. The product examples I gave for each are some of my personal favorites.

5 Celebrity Inspired Winter Beauty Trends, with Wendy Williams!

This was by far one of the most exciting segments I've done.  Picture this – It's 3pm on Friday afternoon right after Sandy.  I'm checking into a hotel room across the city to indulge in a shower and some heat and I received a call from a producer from the Wendy Williams Show. An hour before I went live the segment was finalized.  That's how it works (sometimes) in live TV.  I love my job.  As soon as I get a clip I'll post it, but here's a link to the information for now and a list of the products used after the jump.  Guys, I had my own green room!

Good Morning America Helps Me Spread the "Ban Your Tan" Message

Last week after I got home from Aruba, Good Morning America's, Linsey Davis paid a visit to my apartment along with a producer and crew to discuss my former tanorexic days and why I kicked my harmful beauty habit to the curb.  They couldn't have come at a better time as my former self would have returned from Aruba with blisters from the sun!  I proved my case and told the story that some media outlets loved to sensationalize.  Here's the segment and an article on ABC that explains it further.  I'm honored to have been able to spread the message of safe sun on GMA!  More pics after the jump!

New Project: A Makeover Web Series with SheKnows TV

Last week I was working on an exciting project for SheKnows TV with Candace Cameron Bure (yes, DJ Tanner from Full House) and Style Expert, Felix Mercado in Arizona.  Over three days, we filmed a makeover series, sponsored by Aveeno, seriously tweaking the looks of two victims who were much more beautiful than they gave themselves credit for.  As soon as I saw them I couldn't wait to get my hands on them!  Let's just say that one of them piled on foundation like there was no tomorrow and the other was very plain Jane. Working with Candace and Felix was such a pleasure.  First of all I have to tell you that Candace is no "DJ Tanner."  Of course, that's who I (and all of America) associate her with immediately when hearing her name, but she's grown way beyond her teenage character.  One word to describe her: stunning.  She has the most flawless skin I've ever seen and credits it to Dr. Lancer in LA.  So gorgeous that it's worth booking a flight across country to go see that derm!

Felix is a friend of mine from NYC so I was super psyched to be working on this project with him.  His brutal honesty with our makeover victims had me dying laughing and I don't think I can ever get dressed again without consulting with him first.  He is fierce!  Check out his blog.

Of course, after consulting with each girl I had a makeup artist and hairstylist execute the looks I had in mind, Bianca Catnis, who really understood my visions.  I may know a thing or two about beauty, but God knows not to put me next to a pair of scissors!  I shared a makeup artist and hairstylist with Candace, Allison Pynn.  This woman is talent.  I like to call her a ninja of all trades.  She applied individual lashes in .2 seconds, never allowed me to look shiny under the lights and had everything from her brushes to fashion tape in her makeup belt.  She got it, every aspect of what could possibly be needed.  It's nice to work with people who really care and understand.

The SheKnows team, Candace and Felix really made the 12 hour shoot days fly by.  I had a blast shooting this series with such a talented group of people and can't wait to show it to you what I did to the girls when it's live!

Liam Hemsworth (Gale!) Distracts Me During My Latest TV Segment

It's been a crazy week so far and it's only Wednesday!  I've been hopping around the country doing beauty segments in Miami, Chicago and now Arizona and luckily everything's been going smooth, (even my flights) until this morning.  As I was about to go live on Good Morning Arizona, I realized Liam Hemsworth was doing the interview before me!  Gale from The Hunger Games!  I began to sweat due to anxiety, nervousness and excitement, then I realized I had to act professional.  You never know who you're going to run into on set!  I can't wait for the movie to come out!  16 days!  Check out this mornings segment on the latest beauty breakthroughs...  Can you tell I was just star struck?

Petra Nemcova & I Partner with Glamour to Introduce A New Way to Shop with Your Smart Phone

Last night I had the honor to cut the ribbon with Petra Nemcova, that unveiled Glamour's Apothecary Wall in the Meat Packing District.  The wall is the first of it's kind in the beauty landscape to introduce a new way to shop for products.  As insane as the experience was, the technology behind the shopping wall is even more mind blowing!

I expected to see a backdrop that looked like a step and repeat for a red carpet, but when the curtain fell after we cut the ribbon, the whole crowd gasped as we revealed a beautifully glowing, almost 3D wall that mimicked the shelves of C. O. Bigelow.  It's gorgeous.  So gorgeous that they need to have a security guard in front of it 24/7 so club-goers don't do anything crazy around it.

You can literally shop the wall with your smartphone.  Seriously, what's next?  It's located right across the street from the Standard Hotel and you can't miss it.  All you have to do is download the free Glamour Friends & Fans app and hover a Snap Tag over a point of purchase on the wall next to the product you want.  It pulls the product up on your phone and all you have to do is click to buy.  So easy!

Petra and I shopped the wall last night before the audience swarmed it and I picked up Elizabeth Arden Prevage, Vaselline, Juicy Couture's Viva La Juicy perfume and some other things along the way.  It's truly an innovation as I know I'm constantly shopping from my iPhone, but this app doesn't even bother you about your password a thousand times.  You just need to plug in your credit card number once and your phone recognizes your card's security number when you plug it in.  I encourage everyone and anyone in NYC to go check it out.  It will be up only until Feb. 20th!

Video: Behind the Scenes Fashion Week Prep with Duckie Brown

Before a fashion show designers have a ton of prep work to do, but most of it gets done just a few days before the big event. A week before the Duckie Brown show I went to a model fitting (lucky me!) and followed the designers, Steven Cox and Daniel Silver, every step leading up to their Spring 2011 runway show. Check out the behind the scenes video I did on behalf of Conair after the jump!

Prom Prep 101

Today I'll be doing a Satellite Media Tour appearing on 27 TV stations across the country talking about preparing for the prom. I'm really excited because I know how important prom season is and love the fact that I have the opportunity to share some beauty secrets for all of the ladies and gents who will be attending!  By far, the best accessories for prom are clear skin, a bright smile and kissable lips. Since skin care is a main concern for most teens, it's important to start taking care of it now and not wait for the night before the prom.  God forbid you get a pimple!  I recommend using the new Clearasil Ultra Acne + Marks line.  The face wash doubles as a mask and contains 2% salicylic acid in it to remove dirt and oil from your pores and help clear and prevent break outs. Leave it on for 10 minutes once or twice a week for a deep clean.  If you get a pimple or see a mark starting to form from a pimple, use the spot treatment.  The salicylic acid will clear it quickly and it also has licorice root and Vitamin B3, which helps to diminish the mark.  I like it because it's a lotion, so it doesn't dry your skin out.

Then, from pre-prom photos through to the after party, your smile is your best asset!  Start prepping it with Crest 3D White Advanced Vivid Enamel Renewal Toothpaste.  It removes up to 90% of surface stains in just two weeks.  I use this whole collection, which you can learn more about here.

Finally, I recommend accentuating your natural features.  It's your prom so you don't want to over do it with makeup.  Nivea Lip Care came out with a line called "A Kiss Of..," which features A Kiss of Shine, A Kiss of Color and A Kiss of Moisture.  Each one is available in a variety of shades.

All products are available at drugstores.  Want to know more?  Comment below with your questions and I'll answer them!
