The Glamour of the Fashion 2.0 Awards

Last night I had the honor to be a presenter at the Fashion 2.0 Awards.  Held at Merkin Concert Hall in NYC and hosted by Robert Verdi, I along with Coco Rocha, Jeannie Mai and members of the Style Coalition, celebrated the fashion industries most innovative of the year. With a keynote by Zac Posen, feeling sassy in a DKNY tutu it was a great celebration. Allow me once again to present the winners...

Athleta: Wallet Friendly Work Out Gear

One way I motivate myself to workout is to wear cute clothes to class, obvi.  You with me? Last night I hosted the Athleta store opening party in the Flatiron area of NYC and couldn't have been more impressed with their new line, shopping experience and of course, the price points (it's Gap's fitness brand).

The store was pristine.  White walls and directional spotlights hanging from the ceiling allowed the various collections – categorized by performance type and color – to take center stage.  There's even a whole wall dedicated to leggings that range from $64-$98.

In the middle of the party, New York's finest fitness instructors from Equinox, Barre, SoulCycle and other coveted classes preformed in a fashion show debuting the new collection. Let's just say fitness fashion shows are a lot more fun than anything I've ever seen (picture jumps, squats and twirls down the runway).  As an Athleta fan and fitness fanatic, it was such a fun event to be a part of.  Check out the new store next time you're nearby or visit athleta.com to preview the collection.

Athleta is at 126 Fifth Ave. NYC

A Foundation for Every Style

When asked about my personal style, I often sum it up in three words: feminine and flirty with a bit of an edge.  My core style never changes, however depending on my mood and the atmosphere I'm in, I change up my look from my lipstick to my pumps.  Feel me?  If you're anything like me, you'll love this new personal style video by ELLE and Revlon.

It's a film that you dictate depending on your mood and atmosphere and it concludes with your style personality for the day.  Mine today is 'flirty.'  Obviously.   After it diagnosed me, it recommended five Revlon products to help me achieve a look that matched my mood and day, really taking the guess work out of getting ready. Truth is, no matter what my mood is, I like Revlon ColorStay Makeup, because it's lightweight, lasts all day and a good complexion complements all of my styles.

Check out the film and play for yourself.  I'd love to know what your personal style results are!

Accessorize at the beach

With beach season in full swing, beach hair is a major topic— whether it be products to use or beach friendly up-do’s.  I've been obsessed with head scarves and have some suggestions for dressing up your seaside look with some affordable beach inspired hair accessories to compliment any style.  Check them out.

Head Wraps: Head wraps like this Knotted Southwestern Headwrap ($3.80, Forever 21) are huge this beach season. They give off a laid-back bohemian feel even if you aren’t so laid back or bohemian. They work great on the beach because they look great any which way your salty-hair falls.

Chain Wraps: If your looking for a less laid back and more formal look for the beach, chain wraps are a great addition. We’ve seen the body chain trend come and go, so now its time to take it on in a similar more subtle manner. You will feel like a beach goddess with something like this delicate one ($12.00, Urban Outfitters).

Hair Clip: This is simple yet fantastic for long beach days. I never step on to the sand without one. It looks great in dry or wet hair. You can wear it with every strand of your hair clipped back into it or let your long locks flow out the top. There are cuter designs like this France Luxe Small Couture Jaw clip ($26.00, Nordstrom) but a simple black one will do the job all the same.

Bun Wraps: These serve as a sort of ponytail holder for topknots. Only they’re 10 times cuter. These wraps hold you hair a bit looser then a ponytail holder, which makes for a great messy beach look and won’t cause split ends. Free People has a wide variety available in many different colors ($18.00, Free People).

Oscars Best Dressed: Hair, Makeup & Gowns

The Oscar red carpet was flooded with award worthy deep center parts, romantic updos and stunning eye makeup.  The award for 'Best Dressed' isn't taken lightly as it includes hair and makeup, because let's be honest, it's the total package that lands you on that list.  Here are my picks and rules for nailing it. Rule 1: Have the Perfect Recipe

A good glam squad knows how to collaborate to put a look together.  Think about it, the hair, makeup and dress can't all be elaborate.  Sometimes one or two of them need to sit back and allow the other to take center stage.  Other times, they all work cohesively like a perfectly blended cocktail.

Rule Two: Rock Confidence

You've probably heard me or someone else say this over and over, but it's true.  Confidence is your best accessory.  Most celebrities nail the confidence factor no matter how uncomfortable their heels are to walk in or what the weather is like outside and most opt for sleeveless styles. According to a Dove survey, 61% of women, ages 18-35, feel sexy and feminine when going sleeveless.

George Kotsiopoulos of E! Fashion Police & I Chat About Golden Globes Hits & Misses

Monday afternoon I scheduled a call to chat with the one and only George Kotsiopoulos from E! Fashion Police to pick his brain about beauty and fashion hits and misses from the Golden Globes and thanks to Suave, was able to film it!  I adore George and think he's the only one on the show that really knows fashion so I highly respect and value his opinions.  Check out the video and see what we agree and disagree on!

A Lust Worthy Winter Hat

Winter hats aren't just for warmth and this Eugenia Kim cloche hat proves it. The moment I laid eyes on the rich burgundy felt I knew I had to have it. It was definitely a splurge, not a must-have, but the modern style looks so cute with my black pea coat and I love that I get to wear it multiple times a week if I want to. Here's a cute one from Bloomingdale's that's not quite the same splurge and even better yet, it's on sale for $34.  What do you think of wearing fashionable hats in the wintertime?  Yay or nay?

Maybelline's 2012 Calendar is Very Gaga-esque

I have to get my hands on this! Maybelline created a calendar for 2012 featuring top super models Erin Wasson, Julia Stegner, Kemp Muhl, Zhang Ziyi, Jessica White and Emily DiDonato whose daring glittery and neon looks were created by the one and only, Makeup Artist, Charlotte Willer.  The wardrobe was styled by Sex and the City stylist, Patricia Field. Check out the behind the scenes video of the shoot after the jump!

Red Blazer Obsession

I pull together most outfits with a fitted black blazer but all fall and winter I've been swapping it out for a red one. I love the bold, confident vibe it gives off and just can't get enough of it.  If there's one piece in my wardrobe I wear way too much, it's definitely this one. I scored it at Zara for under $100 and I love the way it looks with a printed top, black skinny jeans and tall boots.  What do you think of the look?

Sneak Peek! Victoria's Secret Fashion Show Finale

I bet you can't wait to watch the Victoria's Secret Fashion Show tonight on CBS! Neither can I, but since I saw it live, I caught a bit of the finale on video just for you!  Enjoy after the jump!

The Very First Victoria's Secret Fashion Show

There were no angel wings at the first Victoria's Secret Fashion Show in 1995.  Held a The Plaza in NYC, it was streamed online and the no-name models casually walked the runway in regular bras and underwear and even (gulp) kimonos.  Tomorrow night on CBS we'll witness more confetti, supermodels and musical performances than ever.  My, have the times changed! Take a look at the video from the very first VS Fashion Show after the jump! Here's the video of the first ever Victoria's Secret Fashion Show:

A few months back I posted about my partnership with Ali Ro and this month you can shop my style on their e-commerce site.  My fave dress was the Grey Sequin Scoop Back Mini and I highly suggest that you snatch it before it sells out.  Afterall, holiday parties are right around the corner.

Mad Men costume designer, Janie Bryant and the Creative Director of Banana Republic, Simon Kneen, joined forces to make the collection come to life.  I had the opportunity to preview the collection and try on some of my favorite pieces in store.

Sneak Peek: Behind the Scenes Ali Ro Shoot

This week I participated in a ten hour shoot with personal style bloggers, Keiko of Keikolynn, Christine of Mystylepill and Christina of Troprouge for Ali Ro's new e-commerce website debuting this fall. We had a great time styling eight outfits each and shooting all around the Meatpacking District.  Four of the shots were group shots, which I found the most fun and comfortable and the other four were solos.  Every time I do solo shots for my Glamour column I feel like I'm the cheesiest poser!

Since the shoot was for Ali Ro's new e-commerce site that's launching in August, we'll be featured from August through December in all different looks.  It was a really fun day and I can't wait to share the new site with you!

(Side note: picture me in 5 1/2 heels almost falling on the cobble stone as we walked to shoot locations. Yes, I looked like the girl who couldn't walk in heels.)

*Next week on my Glamour column I'm putting up a ton more behind the scenes shots so stay tuned!

A Clothing Line You Will Love: Yumi Kim

Back in February when I began my partnership as a Young & Posh blogger for Glamour.com a PR company introduced me to the clothing line, Yumi Kim. I've never heard of them before, but absolutely loved everything!  I actually felt like the brand was designed with my lifestyle, personality and figure in mind.  Wishful thinking, but I'm obsessed.  The dress in the photo to the left is by them and recently I visited a new boutique with my friend in Gramercy Park that carried a ton from the line.  I've never seen it advertised or in major department stores, so I had to tell you about it.

Recently, I purchased a silk blazer in navy and my friend bought it in every bright color possible.  Tons of celebs are fans.  Take a look at the site and I'm sure if you're a BeautySweetSpot reader, you'll be a fan too!  Warning: it's not cheap so shop at your own discretion!
