5 Top Detoxing Skincare Ingredients

Your skin is begging for them.

Ever think your skin needs a serious detox?  Welcome to the club.  Besides slathering yourself in a clay mask, there are other skincare ingredients that promise to soak up excess oil, unclog your pores and balance out your skin. Here are our top five.

Essential Oils

Tea tree oil: This oil is used primarily to calm down acne.  It's both an antiseptic and antimicrobial, gentle enough to use to cleanse and is powerful enough to effectively cure. Spot treatment is optimal. However, be cautious not to over use as it may trigger overproduction of natural oils and worsen acne if not applied properly.

Grape seed oil: This can be used to repair damaged or broken capillaries and blood vessels. Its anti inflammatory properties soothe redness and swelling. This extract bonds with collagen, boosting skins elasticity and making for a useful anti-aging tool.

Baking Soda

To turn over dead skin, take a teaspoon of baking soda and mix it with a half a cup of water to create a scrub. All natural and all encompassing to get your freshest skin by serving as double duty; simultaneously removing blackheads.

Apple Cider Vinegar

This proponent of skin health does more than just topical work to minimize wrinkles. Apple cider vinegar goes as far as to unclog pores and balance your skin's PH level by regulating production of sebum. It's a highly effective disinfectant, allowing for reduction of redness.

Clay

Branded as the worlds most natural and powerful ingredient to detox your skin, this our personal favorite at-home skincare treatment. Bentonite clay, in particular, soaks up all the excess oil that has surmounted on the skin. Bottom line: it's a fantastic remedy for blackheads.

Activated Charcoal

The biggest attraction to this ingredient is its ability to absorb a high amount of impurities, which deeply cleanses your skin. A natural scrub can be made with this as the key ingredient if you blend sea salt and rose water, creating a thick paste. By circularly rubbing it onto the skin, you'll get an immediate glowing effect.
