After years of interviewing Joanna Vargas and hearing about her celebrity-coveted skincare studio, I finally had the chance to check it out for myself. When asked what type of facial I wanted to try, the first one that came to my mind was her famous Triple Crown Facial, which uses microcurrent to help depuff and firm the skin. It's known by celebs and the beauty industry as a workout for your face and most A-Listers like Julianne Moore, Naomi Watts, and Zac Posen to name a few, frequent the her services before big events.
On Saturday afternoon, I was greeted by one of her aestheticians, Anastasia Arianas, who said the Triple Crown Facial was definitely the way to go. She diagnosed my skin as generally a bit dry, especially across the forehead which she mentioned I have lack of sleep, dehydration and stress to thank. I blame it on stress.
The facial began with Joanna's Vitamin C Cleanser, included microcurrent, in which two wands are placed strategically onto the skin and and low waves of electrical current flow into the muscles to firm and tighten, a super concentrated brightening eye mask and layering of serums.
I found the concept of layering serums interesting. Anastasia recommends using two serums to treat your biggest skincare concerns. The first one should be water based and the second should be oil based to lock in moisture. It's definitely something I"m going to start trying, especially since my skin is dehydrated.
If you're in NYC and have a chance to try the facial, I highly recommend the experience whether you're getting ready for a big event or treating yourself for anti-aging maintenance. I'm going to begin including some of Joanna's products in my daily routine as well. Off the bat, I recommend the brightening eye mask.
