One of the many perks of being a beauty writer is getting sent free products from every brand before they even hit store shelves to test out and potentially review. As you can imagine, my beauty closet looks like a Sephora meets CVS. When I fall in love with a product and begin using it consistently, occasionally I'll call in favors to my PR friends for refills, but most of the time I actually buy it. Here's what I've been getting at the drugstore, because they're worth it.
John Frieda Brilliant Brunette Color Deepening Treatment
$9.99 at Ulta
I've always been a huge fan of the Brilliant Brunette collection from John Frieda. Brunette hair gets brassy quickly and the Color Glaze has been a saving grace in between appointments (I dye my hair a bit darker and richer). Recently, the brand launched this color deepening treatment that actually deepens your color by depositing color onto your hair. After shampooing, run it through your strands for 5-10 minutes and you'll notice results immediately.
Aveeno Active Naturals Positively Radiant CC Cream
$17 at Drugstore.com
Sometimes less is more. As a huge fan of Skinceuticals and PCA Skin, my dermatologist recommended I take a break (I had about 8 steps in my regimen) and simplify recommending Aveeno. Of course I listened and have come to really love this product. It's light, contains SPF and oil free, which is great for my acne prone skin (seriously, adult acne came out of no where!). The slight hint of color is also nice.
Almay Eye Makeup Remover Pads
$6 at Drugstore.com
My best friend got me hooked on these a few years ago. (Sometimes I have so much to try that I don't get to everything and rely on others experiences before I actually make an effort to use it.) They're gentle and effective. And we all the eye area is not somewhere we want to be aggressive!
Dove Body Wash
$8 at Drugstore.com
If you've been reading my blog for a while, then you already know that this is an obvious choice. (Here's some Dove love.) There's nothing I love more than smelling like Dove all day long. I rotate between Sensitive Skin, Deep Moisture and the exfoliating one. My skin feels moisturized after I use it and I know it's pampering, which is exactly what I look for in my shower products.
Simple Micellar Cleansing Water
$7 at Target
In the mornings before I head to yoga or bar method, i wipe my face with this water to refresh and then go on my way. I've covered why micellar water is great for your skin before and truth is, it's also just convenient.
L'Oreal Voluminous Miss Manga Mascara
$8 at Ulta
This mascara makes an impact. As opposed to a "clean" lash look, I'm into the more is better when it comes to mascara and love to pile it on coat after coat for real notice-me lashes. Two coats of this and I have mega volume.
