Tried It: Lush Synethesia Massage

When the Lush Spa first opened in NYC I was eager to try one of their most unique treatments, a Synethesia massage, and finally got around to taking the time out.  My masseuse, Jay, first asked me to choose a word off of a chalk board and then a phrase off from bottles of oil that would dictate the unique experience.  My choices –'enlightened' and 'free and playful.'  The massage was a carefully coreographed heightening of the senses and may I also add, the best of my life.

For 80 minutes, my senses were merged through sound, scent and touch.  It was a transformative experience like nothing else.  The massage was coreographed to an orchestra that takes you thought a journey of a full day - from birds chirping in the morning to the faint sounds of the night.  My masseuse used a combination of one of the Lush's scented soaps made from cocoa and shea butter, oil and both, hot and cold stones.  Instead of focusing on one muscle at a time, this massage was for lengthening purposes, and focused on entire portions of the body at once.

Right now, Lush only has spas in NYC and Philly, but hopefully they will expand.  I'd recommend this treatment as a gift for someone who enjoys spa treatemtns, but is looking for a mind blowing experience.
