When traveling there are certain things I always need to have on me.  When traveling Italy and there's a constant flow of red wine, public transportation and long days that turn into even longer nights, the items in my cosmetic case change a bit.  Here's what was constant in every bag throughout my trip.  Whether you're going to the beach for a long weekend or transitioning from work to happy hour, you too, may want to pick some of these up.

H2O Plus Spa Hand and Nail Cream - I never leave the house without hand cream and am kind of obsessed with making sure my cuticles are hydrated.  This one is luxurious and the hydration lasted until the next time I washed.

Caudalie Beauty Elixir  - When used before moisturizer this facial mist acts like a toner and tightens pores.  I carried it around because it also acts like a pick-me-up and smells like a spa.

VMV Hypoallergenics ID Sweat Acne and Overall Anti-Bacterial MonoLaurin Gel - I used multipurpose, lightweight gel mostly on my hands when traveling and using mass transit, but it really helps to prevent acne caused by sweat and occasionally used it on my forehead.  It was 80 degrees some days in Florence.

Go Smile Touch Ups – The red wine was flowing and these Go Smile Touch Ups kept my teeth from being tainted.  They remove surface stains instantly and were super convenient to carry around.

Neutrogena Revitalizing Lip Balm - Since it has SPF 20 it's one of my favorite lip balms, because not only does it moisturize, but it also protects.  I chose the shade Healthy Blush because it nicely brings out the pink in my lips, but looks completely natural.

When in Florence: Visit the Officina Profumo – Farmaceutica di Santa Maria Novella

Founded in the early 1200's next to the piazza Santa Maria Novella in Florence, Italy is one of the oldest pharmacies in the world, never mind Europe.  As I ventured on a tour of Florence last week with my family, the guide pointed it out as we passed as if it were just a landmark.  I made it my mission to go back as soon as possible.  The Officina Profumo – Farmaceutica di Santa Maria Novella was much more than I could have ever dreamed of!

Dominican monks are credited to starting the pharmacy by creating medications, ointments, balms and preparing medicinal herbs in gardens for the friars in the piazza.  In the 1600's, it became famous and in the 1700's the formulas spread throughout the world.

I entered into what appeared to be more like a museum than your typical European pharmacy.  Filled with fragrances, pomades, waters and balms everything inside was special.  After speaking with one of the sales women who spoke a decent amount of English, I learned that the most coveted product then and now is their rose water.

It was used for medicinal purposes back in the early 1200's.  Plagues and diseases corrupted Florence and people drank the rose water believing it would cure them.  Today, it's one of their best sellers still, as a facial toner.  Of course, I had to buy it and covet every swipe.  The scent reminds me of the rose garden at my villa in Tuscany.

Dress to Perform: Workout Gear that Will Make You Want to Sweat

When I was younger I used to attend dance classes (OK up until I was 18).  I took ballet and hip hop and used to get yelled at when I didn't dress appropriately for class; quickly learning that a sports bra and loose tank is not the same thing as a leotard.  My teacher used to tell me to dress to perform, which made me mad as a rebellious teenager who hated rules.  Now, I take that same advice into the gym and it makes all the difference.  Here's what I've been rocking lately... Believe it or not, the sports bra and jacket is by Roxy.  They just launched an outdoor fitness line that's designed to fight the elements when you're partaking in activities like biking and hiking, but I love the material and the designs really compliment a woman's figure so I wear them to the gym as well.  In the pic I'm wearing the Roxy Spin Bra and Atmosphere Jacket.  I also have capri pants that have a really flattering cut, making my thighs look slimmer.

Also in the pic above, I'm wearing my Victoria's Secret Supermodel Pants.  Make Victoria's Secret your new go-to for yoga pants.  They're slimming, comfortable and affordable.  Check out my new finds and you'll soon be saying Lulu who?

6 Things to Add to Your Holiday Wish List from Celeb Manicurist, Deborah Lippmann

Normally when I see Deborah Lippmann, she's busy supervising her team of manicurists backstage during New York Fashion Week.  I always find her somewhere amongst the chaos to chat with her about the nail look for the show, trends for the upcoming season and pick her brain about what's next.  The celebrity manicurist and founder of her own nail and hand care line talks about not five, but six things you should add to your holiday wish list including jewels, affordable, yet chic clothing that I'm obsessed with and of course, a little pampering.

1. My new holiday shade Cleopatra In New York

I love the contrast of the black base with a pop of gold glitter.  I think that it’s very festive and modern, without being a traditional holiday shade.  Tip: One of the tendencies when using glitter polish is expecting the first coat to look the way that it looks in the bottle.  When seeing it in the bottle, the glitter may appear to be full-coverage, but the formula may go on sparse because it is meant to be layered.  Always apply thin coats because applying too much polish at once will cause it to chip easily.

2. Briolette Small Cluster Drop Earrings from Ten Thousand Things

These earrings are sweet and simple, which makes them an easy accessory to go from day to night.  They’re very delicate and feminine, and I love jewelry that’s versatile and can be worn for any occasion because they’re appropriate during the day and at night.  I always have jewelry on my list, and have to tell my husband that I’ll never be disappointed with jewelry because I can never have enough.

3. Trip to Cal-a-Vie Spa

This spa has is fairly easy to get to in the US, and the weather is gorgeous because it is located outside of San Diego, California.  You can work out all morning and have incredible spa treatments all afternoon, which to me is the best of both worlds.  I enjoy the intimate atmosphere – there aren’t too many people, and the last time that I went I came home thinner, relaxed and with a few more friends.  They have couples week, so you can go with the girls or you can also do something special as a couple and go with your significant other.

4. iPhone 5

I always want new gadgets.  As soon as something new comes out I want it, so this is definitely on my list!

5. Maison Martin Margiela for H&M Collection

This collection is so hip, cool and affordable.  I was out of the country when it launched, so I definitely have some pieces from the collection on my wish list.  There is a really cute, big puffy coat that I really want.  Everything in the collection is very trendy as Margiela is, with unexpected shapes.  It’s an affordable way to be super hip.

6. La Prairie Caviar Crystal Limited Edition Set

Sometimes we feel like we can’t spend the money on ourselves to get beautiful skincare products, so getting them as a gift is really great.  It’s the gift that keeps on giving.  The La Prairie Skin Caviar Luxe Cream feels incredible, and I love what it does for my skin.  It also looks beautiful in my medicine which is another bonus!

5 Things to Add to Your Holiday Wish List from NYC Spa Owner, Jamie Ahn

Recently I wrote about my favorite places to go for massages, the Townhouse Spa.  Here, the Founder of the Townhouse and Acqua Beauty Bar in NYC, Jamie Ahn discusses her top five items to add to your holiday wish list and it's all beauty treatments and covetable pieces of fashion.  I have to say, we really do have the same sense of style.  I have a feeling you'll be salivating over at least a few things on here as well.  Enjoy! 1. Luzern Force De Vie Luxe Creme

It brings a glow to tired skin, diminishes signs of lines and wrinkles, promotes fresh cell growth, and deep hydrates. Excellent for those wanting a combination of deep moisture and powerful anti-aging actives.

2.  Michael Kors Shearling Boots

3.  Renove Royal Perfect Collagen Mask

It contains CO Q10 & Royal Jelly which provides firmness and elasticity to help make the skin look more revitalized and lifted (exclusive to Townhouse Spa).

4.  Hermes Scarf

5.  Gift Certificate to Townhouse Spa for a Gel Manicure

Gel manicures don't chip and keep a glossy shine, so they're perfect for  holiday party hopping...in addition to a Aroma Paraffin Hand Treatment, which is super moisturizing.

5 Things to Add to Your Holiday Wish List, from DermaDoctor's Dr. Kunin

I fell in love with this niche line of problem/solution skincare years ago, but when I met the brains behind the brand, Dr. Kunin, I took a liking to it even more.  Not only is she intelligent, but she's a truly dynamic woman with a passion for her work and her family.  Every time I have dinner or a meeting with her I'm constantly haggling her about my own skin!  It's like a personal dermatologist appointment during an interview.  Here are Dr. Kunin's top five things to add to your holiday wish list. 1. Photodynamic Therapy Eye Lift Lotion

Who doesn’t want their eyes wide open and gorgeous, especially during the blur of holiday parties?  This eye lift lotion offers 5 benefits at once.  Results are both immediate (lifting of brows and relaxation of crow’s feet) and long term like flattening out unsightly bags under the eyes.

2. A statement-making handbag

Every girl deserves to show off her style identity with a purse.  My pick is the Louis Vuitton Artsy bag in the classic Monogram pattern.  Lots of style, lots of room, lots of fun!

3. A fabulous pair of casual tall boots

My pick –dark brown Frye Jane Tall Cuff Boots let you change up the look and no worries about zippers for ample calves!

 4. An iPad mini

Love it in silver and white!

5. A charm bracelet

I especially love the look and feel of vintage charms, the history behind them and the romance.

Holiday 'It' Kits: Bargain Beauty Buys for Everyone on Your Shopping List... Including Yourself!

One of the best parts about gifting your beauty junkie BFF during the holidays is the deals.    Since beauty companies are packaging their best sellers into giftables, they're being offered at discounted prices.  They're so irresistible that as selfish as it may sound, I highly recommend stocking up on your own beauty loot as you shop for others.   I rounded up some of the best beauty deals happening this season so you don't miss out.  You're welcome! Lorac Sweet Temptations Eye Shadow Collection, $36 ($304 value)

Inspired by a box of deluxe chocolates, Celebrity Makeup Artist, Carol Shaw created these four eye shadow palettes with rich pigments that are velvety to touch.  With names like: Indulge In White Chocolate (dramatic shades), Satisfying Toffee Crunch (natural shades), Tease Me Truffles (plum shades) and Tantalizing Dark Chocolate (bronze shades), the gift set makes a sweet treat for a chocolate lover or anyone who can use a boost to their cosmetic bag.  And seriously, who doesn't?

Marchesa Parfum D'Extase Gift Set, $75 (a $115 value)

Update your scent with this light, floral fragrance by Marchesa.  Feminine notes of freesia, jasmine and violet are layered over a musky finish to create a an intoxicating blend.  This gift set comes with a 1 oz. eau de parfum spray, roller ball and hair mist.

Fresh Sugar Addiction Mini Lip Collection, $48 (a $68 value)

Appropriately named, I'm addicted to these tinted lip balms and would surely purchase them for myself if I didn't receive them at the press event.  Not only do these lip treatments help prevent and heal chapped lips, but five out of six in this package add a nice buildable tint.  My favorites are Rose and Berry.

Bliss The 'Bod' Squad Our Four Most 'Spa'-Pular Formulas For Body Set, $65 (a $115 value)

If you're a sucker for luxe body lotions and potions, then this set is worth indulging in.  Bliss packaged their four best sellers: Body Butter, Body Scrub, Hand Cream and Fat Girl Slim all for a fraction of the price.

Urban Decay Ocho Loco 24/7 Glide-On Eye Pencil Set, $58 (a $152 value)

Urban Decay liners are no joke.  They're super pigmented and glide on smoothly.  This set contains eight full sized pencils: four best sellers and four newbies exclusively created for holiday.

White Diamonds by Elizabeth Taylor Gift Set, $60 (a $120 value)

A celebrity fragrance that possesses the femininity and beauty of a classic icon.  Created by Elizabeth Taylor, the gift set includes a 3.3 oz. EDT Spray, 3.3 oz. Perfumed Body Cream, 3.3 oz. Gentle Moisturizing Body Wash and .5 oz. Frosted EDP.  All travel sized, which is a smart way to give someone a gift of perfume.  If they love it, they can purchase the full sized bottle at a later date.

Lancome Hypnose Star Mascara Collection, $34 (a $77 value)

This is the ultimate lash lovers kit.  I'm obsessed with this mascara and love that Lancome created a whole kit around it!  It comes with their Cils Booster XL Super-Enhancing Mascara Base, Bi-Facil Double-Action Eye Makeup Remover, Artliner Precision Point EyeLiner in Noir and of course, 0.22 oz Hypnôse Star Mascara in Intense Black.  Everything you need to create an intense eye look.

Caudalie Indulgent Body Set, $28 (a $43 value)

Indulgent is the best word to describe Caudalie's creams.  I live for their foot cream and want this set!  It includes a full sized hand and nail cream and body butter.  Trust me on this, treat yourself.

Yves Saint Laurent 'La Laque Couture' Nail Lacquer Set, $60 (a $75 Value)

This value makes them $20 a polish!  Ladies, it's so worth it.  They're full sized lacquers in Rouge Pop Art (my fave), Rouge Dada and Fuschia Intemporal.  These polishes are covetable!   I'd even purchase this, keep one for myself and give one to two of my friends as a token on their gifts.

5 Things to Add to Your Holiday Wish List with Celebrity Stylist, Ted Gibson

Ted Gibson is perhaps one of the most sought-out celebrity stylists in the world.  He coifed the locks of Ashley Greene, Angelina Jolie, Anne Hathaway and yours truly.  His fingers are literally magical.  When not shooting a magazine cover, he's normally tending to his A-list clients in his NY or FL salons or being his fabulous self on a TV show.  Here, Ted talks about five things to add to your holiday wish list! 1. Ted Gibson Hairsheet Styling & Beautiful Hold Hairspray

The perfect stocking stuffer! I use these products on all my gibson girls like Ashley Greene and Gabrielle Union for guaranteed gorgeous hair. My hairsheets are perfect quick fix to smooth out hat hair during the winter months. Beautiful hold hairspray is sure to keep your holiday hairstyles perfectly in place.

2. Rubies

They are sparkly, gorgeous and red. Enough said!

3. iPad mini

The iPad does everything! Plus this new mini version can fit into purse!

4. Shoes

Always a great holiday gift. A sparkly new pair of Louboutins can not only make you look incredibly sexy but will also make you feel better after your mother has told you how ugly your hair is!

5.  Range Rover Sport Supercharge

Perfect for cruising to Neiman Marcus or Costco.

A Black Friday & Cyber Monday Beauty Deal Not to Be Missed from Bath & Body Works

I am deathly afraid of Black Friday and still don't understand why people feel the urge to physically go into stores and aggressively shop the deals and steals.  Can someone please explain the the satisfaction to me?  All of the deals are online, ladies!  Truth is you don't even have to wait until Cyber Monday, because many brands run them all weekend long.  The best part, you can shop in your underwear!  There's one deal I'm particularly excited about this weekend and know you will too, because it's from Bath & Body Works and who doesn't love gifting from BBW? When I was young, living in Jersey and used to go to the mall religiously BBW was one of my favorite stores.  There was always a deal and I was obsessed with their anti-bacterial hand creams and candles.  I couldn't imagine a holiday without gifting someone with something from BBW not just because of the fun scents, but also because of their deals.

This weekend, they're offering VIP Gift Bags filled with products worth over $100 for only $20 to customers who spend $40 or more.  Of course, they're first come first serve.  Loaded with the best of BBW including: Signature Collection Shower Gel and Body Lotion  in the new Cashmere Glow, a Paris Amour Body Lotion and a Paris for Men 2-in-1 Hair + Body Wash, a red shower sponge, a mini Cranberry Bellini candle, and an Anti-Bac Gentle Foaming Hand Soap in Sparkling Pink Champagne.  All of the products come in a grey zip-up tote with a matching sequin change purse.

Shopping online (like me)?  Use code VIP12 at checkout.

Also on Friday you can receive a free trial size aromatherapy with any purchase ($6 value)  after 3pm and online get a $5 Aromatherapy after 3pm.

Ready. Set. Shop!

*This post is sponsored by Bath & Body Works, but all of my thoughts and actions are true.

3 Hot Luxury Items for Less: Diamonds, Gold & The Most Expensive Perfume in the World

When it comes to shopping for clothes and home goods, I'm a Maxxinista, but there's nothing like scoring a gorgeous pair of Louboutins or an ornate Alexis Bittar cocktail ring at sample sales.  There's something to be said about luxury.  We all want it, but have to be strategic in the ways we obtain it.  Retailers are now finding ways to bring their luxe items to the masses and I, for one, couldn't be happier.  Here are some covetable beauty buys that you may rethink purchasing. Perfume

Deemed the most expensive perfume in the world, Clive Christian No. 1 will have you smelling close to a million dollars.  The original retails for $865, but it's made with the rarest ingredients, of course.  This fall, V Perfumes was launched for half the price at $405.  Not bad considering.  The scent contains notes of honey and sandalwood on top of jasmine, orange blossom, rose and chamomile.

Manicure

How much would you actually spend on your nails?  When it comes to nail art some go to extremes.  Take Kelly Osbourne for example.  At this year's Emmy's she flaunted a $250K black diamond manicure by the jeweler, Azature.  The most expensive nail polish in the world has 267 carats of diamonds in it.  What happened to the diamonds when she took the polish off?  Crazy!  The company created a bottle of the sparkle for only $25 so you can DIY.

Gold Accents

This fall, ornate gold accents are in.  Whether it be in head pieces, makeup or jewelry.  A Dior cuff would run you about $500, but the brand just came out with these Golden Tattoos made out of 24K gold leafing.  From charms and rings to cuffs, the delicate tattoo jewelry is a true form of luxe for less, but less meaning $120.  Would you spend that much on a tattoo just to have something Dior?

Lady Gaga Fame is Here and I Got A Sneak Peek!

I've already expressed my excitement over Gaga's new fragrance and am happy to announce that it's arrived!  Receiving the samples felt very surreal as a sleek black bag arrived at my apartment with two samples of the black liquid awaiting my approval.  I don't normally get like this about celebrity fragrances as I can't stand the whole concept to be honest, but I think Gaga did it right.  Fame is Lady Gaga. It's the first black perfume, but don't worry once you spritz it, it becomes clear once in contact with the air.  Gaga was quoted saying, "It smells like an expensive hooker," and despite the rumors of her blood being in the fragrance, it is very much a piece of her.

I showed the video directed by Steven Klein behind the fragrance two weeks ago, which is very sensual.  Her fragrance is as well topped off with notes of honey, saffron and apricot nectar, followed by tiger orchid and jasmine.  It's labeled as a fruity floral, but one I'd wear at nighttime.  Overall it's innovative and impressive.

The Best Summer Beauty Buys, Aruba Approved

Packing for Aruba was intense.  Literally, I had a carry on sized suitcase just for my toiletries and I wouldn't even consider myself high maintenance.  I was (naturally) elected by my family to bring as much sunscreen as I had for the 13 of us on the trip and of course packed different forms of UV hair protection, cream based cosmetics and you know, hair removing essentials.  Here's a peek at the products that proved their worth from my packing list...

Shiseido Urban Environment UV Protection Cream - I tried a variety of sunscreens while I was in Aruba with SPF's of 30 to SPF's of 60.  This was one I used often on my face.  It has an SPF of 35, protects from UVA and UVB rays and is water resistant.  I liked that it was light weight and didn't clog my pores.

L'Oreal Sublime Sun SPF 50 - I found myself liking the spray version of this SPF.  I started out using the 50 since I'm so pale and the sun was so strong.  As the week went on I switched to 30.

Philosophy Here Comes The Sun Age Defense SPF 30 - This is the spray I used once I switched to SPF 30.  The mist is more targeted than the L'Oreal one, but no matter which one I used, I made sure to rub them in as well.

Schick Hydro Silk Razor & Skintimate Shave Gel Pack – I really like this razor because it has five blades and dispenses a smoothing serum when it gets wet, but this pack came with a travel sized shaving cream so it was convenient and a great bang for my buck.

Bumble & Bumble Color Minded UV Protective Polish – After drying my hair at night I smoothed a dime sized amount of this lightweight serum through my strands and it gave my hair a great sheen while protecting my color.  Since I didn't wash it again when I woke up to go to the beach, it continued to protect it from the sun all day long.

Avon Glow Eyeliner in Copper Paradise – This is my fave summer liner.  The creamy consistency glides on smoothly and the shade makes my hazel eyes pop especially when I'm by the ocean.  It's a nice change from a sharp black or brown.  Perfect for a beachy locale.

Nine West Launches Their First Fragrance, Love Fury

As you may notice, I have a Nine West widget floating on my site and ladies, it's for a really good reason!  The brand launched their first ever fragrance, Love Fury, that's designed with a stiletto heel stopper.  They also made a chic pair of Love Fury heels to compliment the fragrance. "Love Fury is for the woman who loves the privileges of being a woman—from wearing high-heeled pumps to using fragrance’s power to seduce," Jean Madar, chairman and CEO of Nine West's fragrance manufacturing partner Inter Parfums Inc., commented to WWD.

The scent is delicate, so I like it.  It's a fresh, yet seductive blend of florals such as rosebud, mimosa petals, and mandarin layered with jasmine and rounded out by musk and amber.  It's something I'd spritz on during the day without hesitation.  The limited-edition pumps are pin-up sexy – satin, 4 1/2 inch stiletto with a 3/4" platform.  I have them and I love them.

The fragrance retails for $55 and pumps are $89.

Barneys New York Tempts You to Love Yourself

I rarely ever walk into Barneys, because when I do it's bad... real bad.  The department store is reason number 1,999 why I often have to put my credit card in the freezer.  However, in case you do feel like"window shopping," here's a promo worth going inside and taking a peek for. Spend $200 and get a gift bag that includes beauty loot from Deborah Lippmann, NARS, Radical Skincare, 3Lab, Cle de Peau, Kai, Frederic Malle, Lipstick Queen and more.  Just don't say I didn't warn you!

Nutricosmetics Invade Dial Lotions

So far one of the biggest trends this year that I've recognized is that people are purchasing items that do more for them.  Take for example Wheat Thins.  It used to be that people would buy the one's that said "Fat Free," "Low Carb," and "Guilt Free Snack" on the label, but today's shopper is different. We're all looking for more.  Instead, we're picking up the boxes that read things like "Added Fiber." I thought of food first when writing this post, maybe because it's almost dinner time and I'm hungry, but what I was getting to is a new beauty product that just added more – I'm talking about Dial Lotions merging with what we know as nutricosmetics – added vitamins and minerals to give it a boost creating Dial NutriSkin Innovation.

Regular moisturizer doesn't cut it anymore.  The Dial NutriSkin Innovation comes in five varieties (including one for men) and can be found in drugstores.   What added benefits to you look for in your beauty products when shopping?
