Lunch with Victoria's Secret Models, Erin Heatherton Spills Her Beauty Must Haves & Her Fitness Struggle

Picture this: a perfect spring day in NYC and the sun is shining in through the glass roof of Imperial No. Nine, the restaurant off the lobby of the Mondrian Soho onto different shades of pink roses that lined the long wooden table.  What looked like a chic bridal shower was just another beauty event, only this time I found myself at a garden themed luncheon for Victoria's Secret with three models: Lindsay Ellingson, Erin Heatherton (who I grabbed to chat) and Toni Garrn.

The beginning of the event we were having cocktails and mingling when I asked Erin if I could ask her a few questions about the new fragrance, Love is Heavenly, and she pulled me over to the bar so we could talk in private.  After noticing her six inch Louboutin's I realized she probably needed to sit down and scored an exclusive, really raw interview.

"It's parallel to this kind of day we're having, a beautiful spring day," Heatherton explained when I asked her how she'd describe the scent.  "Optomistic and feminine, like being in love.  You know, the a quiet, playful happiness you have inside."

I couldn't agree more.  As a fan of Heavenly, which I used to exclusively wear when I was younger, Love is Heavenly is just as light with a citrus twist.  An uplifting daytime fragrance available in Eau de Parfum, Body Mist (my fave), Lotion and Moisture Cream.

As for other beauty must haves, she credits her great skin to Dr. Colbert, who's her go-to derm and loves his skincare.  "I like to have fresh, glowing skin and love cheek stain," she says.  "Besides that I use tinted lip balm and a lash curler."  After long flights or when she feels stressed to prevent pimples she rotates between Ren and the Fresh Black Tea Instant Perfecting Face Masks.  I've never tried either and can't wait!

"For a while when I was doing this job I looked right, but didn't feel good," she confesses.  "I ran, but it was a chore, until I started noticing results."  Growing up Heatherton was an athlete and never had to work to be in shape, when she hit her 20's, things changed.  "Now I put in hours sweating and boxing and it adds to my confidence at the end of the day.  Sometimes you don't want to be photographed if you don't feel right."

Fall Must-Have: Votre Vu Bebe Duette

Most of the time when I come across two-in-one beauty products I find that I like them for one reason, but wouldn't really use them for the other. Recently I was sent Votre Vu Bebe Duette Luxe Lips and Tarte D' Amande, which is the simpliest of all two-in-one's, yet genius!  I don't know any woman who wouldn't use it. It's a tube of rich almond scented hand cream with a cap that contains a super nourishing lip balm made of coconut oil, shea butter and beeswax. Bonus – the top of the cap has a tiny mirror inside!

I'm obsessed with moisturizing and know this will be in my handbag all Fall and Winter.  You can get it on votrevu.com as a package of two for $39.50.

Kiehl's Celebrates 160 Years with Heritage Collection

I'm a huge fan of Kiehl's and I know I'm obviously not alone.  The skin and hair care brand has a cult following and thanks to that, they're now celebrating their 160th anniversary, which any beauty addict would know, is a huge accomplishment for a beauty brand!  With a new line popping up every day, Kiehl's has remained true to their fans and improved over time. To celebrate, they went back to their roots and launched a limited edition heritage collection, which includes four old school products (also customer favorites), but repackaged them for the occasion.  The collection includes their Ultra Facial Cream (one of my faves), Ultra Facial Moisturizer, Calendula Toner and Original Musk Oil and will be available from September through December.

Spontaneity Leads to the Unexpected, Bring It On!

It's amazing what you'll discover about yourself when you step out of your comfort zone.  Me – a super detailed, anally organized, to-the-minute type of girl who structures her freelance lifestyle to the T so she doesn't end up tumbling like a rolling stone.  The new me – still a super detailed, anally organized, structured girl who isn't afraid to be spontaneous. This past weekend I went on a press trip to Miami with Schick and the theme of the weekend was "Dare to be Spontaneous."  My "detailed" itinerary for the three day trip left out all activities and times of obligation and only included our flights, hotel and car service information.  I took on the challenge of this go-with-the-flow lifestyle, and packed a few rompers and bikinis. My favorite beauty girls and I didn't know what we were in for and all felt a little uneasy not knowing when we could fit in nap or gym time.  The next thing I knew, I drove a jet ski (never in my life did I ever trust my self to DRIVE anything before, let alone in the ocean), had a massage, a few cocktails and are you ready for this... not only did we sit in a VIP box at a Katy Perry concert, but we had a meet and greet with her too!  The craziest part, Russell Brand decided to interrupt it!

I had to ask Katy Perry about her guiltiest pleasure and her answer – cats!  "I used to think cats were c*nts, but after learning about them I like how you have to gain their respect.  I love having my cat lick my face."

Introducing Tattoo Inspired Scents by Inky

Last year Chanel introduced tattoos on the runways and began selling temporary tattoos starting at $75 per pack.  Sarah Jessica Parker rocked one, but me?  If I'm going to splurge on Chanel it's going to be on a bag or pair of sunglasses. I have a tattoo on my right, inner wrist of a butterfly I designed.  I know, you're probably thinking "a butterfly?," but there's so much meaning behind this butterfly I couldn't begin to explain it and I love it.  It is part of who I am and I look at it as a permanant accessory.

Recently, I came across these tattoo inspired scents by Inky.  They're more like body splashes, two for men and three for women.  I like them because each one reflects a different personality as the butterfly I designed reflects mine.  They're exclusively sold at Target for $5.99.

Elizabeth Arden's New Spring Launches

Elizabeth Arden is kicking off spring with  good-for-your skin makeup that offers flawless coverage.  When I heard the news about the new foundation and concealor in their line up I had to put them to the test. The foundation, Ceramide Ultra Lift and Firm Makeup SPF15, $42 includes the ceramide plumping ingredients that are found in their Gold Ultra Restorative Capsules, which is a serum I'm currently using.  It has a very creamy texture, moisturizes and has hibiscus seed extrat, which in conjuction with the ceramide ingredients helps to plump and firm.  The SPF is a plus.

Since I don't wear foundation everyday, I'm really using the Ceramide Ultra Lift and Firm Concealer, $19.50.  The coverage is great, but I really like it because of how moisturizing it is, which is exactly what I need for my under eye area.  (Hello fine lines!)  It also helps to lift and firm wrinkles, so I feel good about wearing it for the long term benefits.

Nutricosmetics Invade Dial Lotions

So far one of the biggest trends this year that I've recognized is that people are purchasing items that do more for them.  Take for example Wheat Thins.  It used to be that people would buy the one's that said "Fat Free," "Low Carb," and "Guilt Free Snack" on the label, but today's shopper is different. We're all looking for more.  Instead, we're picking up the boxes that read things like "Added Fiber." I thought of food first when writing this post, maybe because it's almost dinner time and I'm hungry, but what I was getting to is a new beauty product that just added more – I'm talking about Dial Lotions merging with what we know as nutricosmetics – added vitamins and minerals to give it a boost creating Dial NutriSkin Innovation.

Regular moisturizer doesn't cut it anymore.  The Dial NutriSkin Innovation comes in five varieties (including one for men) and can be found in drugstores.   What added benefits to you look for in your beauty products when shopping?
