Reporting Live Tomorrow from the Victoria's Secret Fashion Show

It's that time of year again! While you can tune in on November 29th and watch the Victoria's Secret Fashion Show, I'll be there tomorrow for the taping as the angels prep backstage and walk the runway.  Of course, I'll be tweeting live on site and posting images, interviews and videos immediately after the show on BeautySweetSpot so you can get the scoop right away. Last year I got to go into the spray tan tent to see exactly how the models bodies were sculpted with product (see post) despite their workout regimens and diets and interview all the models pre-show on video including Alessandra Ambrosio.

This year, special guest performers include Kanye West, Maroon 5, Cee Lo Green and just announced – Nicki Minaj.  WWD reports the themes for this years show will include ballet, super angels, passion play, angels aquatic, I put a spell on you and club pink.  There will be 69 costumes in total and 38 models walking the catwalk.

VIP Pass Inside the Industry: 5WPR

Today's sneak peak inside the industry feature's one of my favorite beauty publicists, Jessica Goon, the Associate Vice President at 5WPR.  She stared her career as a reporter for a daily newspaper, but has been "on the other side" for the past 6 years.  Working with brands like Ted Gibson (Anne Hathaway's stylist), Decleor and Halo/Air Salt Spas, she never has a dull day.  I first met Jess when I went freelance and she has been such an inspiration to me... now, allow her to inspire you! 1. How'd you break into the industry? I was an English major with a focus on journalism in college and broke into the industry by working several internships in both PR and news. As a college senior when everyone else was checked out, I would go to classes in the morning, spend afternoons at lacrosse practice and then spend nights alternating between my college newspaper offices and my internship at the local daily newspaper. It was hard work, but prepared me for working in PR where you're always multi-tasking, running from one place to another and writing on deadline.

2. What's your favorite part of being in PR? When all of the hard work comes together. In PR we spend months working on TV segments, magazine spreads and events for our clients and it can be stressful and sometimes discouraging. However, once you're actually there in the TV studio for a taping or backstage at fashion week it all feels worth it.

3. What’s the worst? Finding the time to get a pedicure.

4. If you could give advice to people trying to get into the industry today what would it be? Scoring internships and working hard are a...given to break into any industry.  Whenever I meet people looking to get into PR I tell them to read. Reading the news makes you a better writer, it keeps you informed about the industry and it familiarizes you with key reporters and what they cover.

4. Confess: What's your biggest beauty sin? Ted Gibson would probably tell me it's wearing my hair in a ponytail too often, but my real beauty sin is going to sleep with my make up on. I know! I know! But sometimes after a long day, I'm just too tired.

5. What's your guiltiest pleasure? Bad television. If it's on Bravo, MTV, E! or The CW, I've seen it. I like to think it keeps me updated on pop culture and trends, but it's really just good "bad" TV.

VIP Pass to The Industry: The Beauty of Life Blog

Meet Jamie Allison Sanders, Editor In Chief of TheBeautyofLifeBlog.com.  Known on her blog as "the beauty chick," Jamie is one of the sweetest people in the biz.  She's spent years working in the world of beauty and reveals her true passions and coveted findings throughout her blog. Check out what she has to say about her guiltiest pleasures and the world of blogging.

What’s your favorite part of blogging?

Blogging is honestly the best combination of all my favorite things to do -- write, mingle with other people in the industry and play with beauty products! It's been so rewarding to meet other people who share my passion for lipgloss and candles -- and who actually care when M.A.C puts out a new collection or a new haircolor system like INOA is introduced. To meet some of the industry greats has been so incredible as well. I've gotten to speak with people whose names I've seen in magazines for 15 or 20 years -- that's been unbelievable.

What’s your least favorite?

Honestly? Follow up email upon follow up email from PR people. If I like a product, I WILL write about it! And if I never requested information from you in the first place, one email is enough. If I'm intrigued, I will write you back.

If you were going to give someone advice on starting a blog what would it be?

Really put in the time and effort! Don't expect it to come easily. Serious bloggers have been working on this for years -- and I can say from experience that a woman's work is never done! ...I'm constantly coming up with new ideas, trying new things, reworking and reworking ... and I'm still never satisfied. You have to really care about what you're doing and be willing to work REALLY hard.

Confess!  What’s your biggest beauty sin?

I don't EVER wash my face! In my defense, using cleanser actually makes my skin worse -- so I just do as little as possible to it.

What’s your guiltiest pleasure?

Spa treatments, without a doubt. I can be found getting a massage or a facial at LEAST twice a month. (My wallet is not so happy about that.) In my defense, I work pretty hard, so I like to treat myself! It's the only time I have to relax!

VIP Pass to "The Industry:" Seventeen

I first met Heather Muir of Seventeen when she was working for Cosmopolitan.  As a publicist, I took her out for mani's and pedi's at the Townhouse Spa and couldn't wait to chat with her because she just took my old job at Cosmo and I couldn't wait to tell her how much fun she was about to have.  Now, she's flourished in the industry and is climbing her way to the top! Check out what she has to say: What’s your favorite part of working at Seventeen? I adore working with teen girls. They’re refreshing and willing to take big beauty risks. They make beauty fun—exactly what it should be! Who’s your celebrity crush? Guy: James Franco and Channing Tatum are neck and neck. Girl: It’s a three-way tie...Megan Fox, Mila Kunis, and Kim Kardashian (I have a thing for brunettes!). What are your must-have beauty products? There are too many to name. Every time I go into the beauty closet, I walk out with another favorite. I use Proactiv to keep my skin clear. Right now, I’m obsessed with Jouer Luminizing Moisture Tint... For mascara, I’m a Maybelline Define-A-Lash girl. I use By Terry Rose Balm on my lips. I take bubble baths with Kai Body Wash. I don’t use much product in my hair, but when I wear it curly, Motions Foaming Wrap Lotion gives me the best waves. The list goes on and on. I’m a product junkie. I’ve been collecting since my internship. There’s no way I’ll ever be able to use all the products I have under my bathroom sink in my lifetime. What advice would you give to people trying to get into the industry today? Get an amazing internship on your resume so you can make great contacts. It was my golden ticket! (And work really, really hard!) Confess! Your biggest beauty sin: Falling asleep with makeup on. YIKES, I know. Even with face wipes on my nightstand, sometimes I’m just too tired! What’s your guiltiest pleasure? Weekly: mani/pedi/blowout. I save lash extensions and spray tans (Anna at Rita Hazan is the best!) for special occasions :)
