The Best Vampy Lipsticks

If you've been following my InstaStories, then you see that I've been testing a ton of lipsticks and glosses lately.  Personally, when choosing a lipstick color, I love wearing neutral or berry shades, but my real lipstick obsession is for anything vampy.  This may sound insane, but when deciding I'm in the mood for a vampy lip, I revolve the rest of my outfit (and of course makeup) around it. It's a look that's strong enough to take center stage.  With Valentine's Day approaching, it seems appropriate to share some of my favorites.  Here are the best lipsticks for a seductive smile.

MAC Retro Matte Liquid Lipcolor in Carnivorous

$21 at maccosmetics.com

This blackened red feels luxe on your lips.  It goes on creamy like a gloss, but settles as a matte that lasts and lasts and lasts.  Seriously, I couldn't get it off.  Retro indeed.  90s lipsticks are making a comeback.

Urban Decay High-Color LipGloss in Apocalypse

$22 at urbandecay.com

This launched about two years ago and has been a staple of mine ever since.  The warm, deep purple is a highly pigmented gloss that truly keeps your lips moisturized the entire time you're wearing it.  Besides the color (I tend to wear neutral or warm shades), I absolutely love the consistency.

NARS Audacious Lipstick in Charlotte

$34 at narscosmetics.com

This full coverage, warm burgundy is my other go-to.  I order this luxury lipstick when ever I get low and even have back stock, because I'm nervous it may become discontinued one day.

Maybelline Color Sensational Vivid Matte Liquid in Red Punch

$7.99 at Ulta

I love this collection by Maybelline and especially this shade.  It's brighter than the rest in this piece, but still gives off a seductive, vampy feel, which is deeper than what you see in this pic.  It applies smoothly like a creamy gloss but dries down matte.

Clinique Pop Matte Lip Colour + Primer in Avant Garde Pop

$18.50 at Clinique

Matte lipsticks are tricky, because they can be drying.  This one acts like a two-in-one with a built in primer.  The shade is the vampiest of the bunch and super wearable especially if you're not looking go borderline goth.  It's pretty pigmented, glides on smoothly and acts as a non-drying matte.  I like this one for all skin tones (see lipsticks for brown skin).
