Tried It: 10 Minute Deep Cleaning Laser Treatment

If I told you that you cold get a 10 minute deep cleaning laser treatment for $65, would you do it? I did!  California's coveted laser and light facial cleansing quickie, Skin Laundry, landed in NYC so of course I popped in to see what all of the hype was about.  Being that I've tried laser treatments with my derm in the past, I was skeptical about the efficacy of the treatment.  How could it be so affordable?

When it comes to skincare, I've always been a fan of lasers.  We all have different skincare concerns, but for me hyperpigmentation and big pores are my two worst enemies.  I've even tried Fraxel (see post) before to help rid all of my uneven pigmentation, and it did, but then it came back.  Doing Fraxel was just proof that I'll try anything.  Even put my face through that.

At Skin Laundry, a nurse or PA uses a combination of YAG laser (which felt a bit prickly) and light to help deep clean the skin, which is the main focus of the treatment.  Ready for the side effects?  The 10 minute treatment also helps to even out your complexion, minimize the appearance of pores, control acne and stimulate collagen and elastin.  Now those are side effects I can get behind.

So how is Skin Laundry able to make this laser treatment so affordable?

Because the treatment is so short and that's all the company focuses on, they're able to do a mass amount of treatments per day, which helps keep the cost down.  The catch, depending on what you're trying to achieve, you may need several treatments.  For me, a cleaning is recommended every two weeks.  The intensity of the laser and light are mild compared to a treatment you'd receive at the dermatologist office.

Is it worth it?

It depends on what your goals are and the amount of time (and downtime) you have.  After just one treatment, I immediately noticed my pores looked smaller and skin was glowing.  I normally find the only thing that helps really remove gunk out of my pores are facials with extractions, but this did the job quickly.  I would keep going back for the deep cleaning benefits.  So yes, it's worth it if you're looking for a good clean.

However, if I wanted to address a real concern (hyper pigmentation or acne) I would stick with the derm and do something more invasive (a higher intensity laser) so I see results quicker.  That of course, is not for everyone since they normally require a bit of downtime.  Can't blame me though, we live in a world of instant gratification!

Here's the breakdown by numbers:

0

65

150

dollars for 3 treatments (first time customers)
