Kaley Cuoco's Makeup Artist's Secrets from Backstage the People's Choice Awards

It's no doubt that Kaley Cuoco's a power house.  The actress has been killing it on The Big Bang Theory, was named one of the hottest girls on TV by Maxim and just hosted the People's Choice Awards with five outfit changes.  This afternoon I chatted with her makeup artist, Jamie Greenberg, about working behind the scenes with Kaley and how she kept her looking fresh all night long.  There were mustaches involved... The scene: Greenberg and the rest of Kaley's glam squad met at 2pm to begin primping.  "What you see is what you get with Kaley," Greenberg stated.  "She's always positive and her mood doesn't sway with what job she's doing, but since she was hosting the show, we were super excited."  She made us pink hoodies that read "Touchdown" on the back because each time she does something great we all say "Touchdown."  Greenberg brought tiara's and fake mustaches and Kaleys hair stylist brought T-shrits with prints of her dog on them that read, "Team Cuoco."  Positive energy filled the room.

Kaley's Look: "Since she was hosting we wanted to do something different and went with a '60's mod vibe channeling Sophia Loren for the carpet," Greenberg commented.  She had a peek at Kaley's five dresses a week prior while shooting a Toyota commercial with her and began brainstorming.  A cat eye and bump in her hair were the foundation, then for the show it was all about changing the texture of the lip and cheek along with the hair.  Her go-to product was the Mark Touch & Glow Shimmer Cream Cubes.  "I just smooshed my brush into the cubes and kept adding more color onto her cheeks," she says.  "It made a big difference with each look."

Staying Fresh: Throughout the night, Kaley rocked five different looks and Greenberg was responsible for making sure she stayed looking fresh.  Here's how:

  1. Because Kaley has sensitive skin, she used gentle makeup removing wipes by Proactiv that get the job done without irritation.
  2. During touch ups, she misted Kaley's face with Jurlique Rose Water Balancing Mist to keep the skin fresh and powder from looking cakey.
  3.  To keep her looking awake, she dabbed a bit of Fresh Black Tea Age Delay Eye Cream under her eyes before reapplying concealer.  This move acted like a 4pm cup of coffee, keeping Kaley's under eye area hydrated and plump all night.

Kaley Cuoco, An Exclusive Interview with TV's Hottest Bombshell

Kaley Cuoco, the leading lady in the male dominated series "Big Bang Theory" was recently named one of the hottest girls on TV by Maximattended the 2012 Emmys and landed a deal as a Proactiv Spokesperson.  She's on fire. I had the opportunity to interview the actress about her Emmys experience, addiction to SoulCycle and of course beauty must haves.  Check it out. You looked beautiful at the Emmys. How did you decide on your red carpet look?

My stylist, Tara Swennen, should get all the credit. We have such a good relationship and she knows exactly what works for me and what doesn't. I knew I wanted to wear something bright and this is what we came up with! I loved this look!

You recently tweeted about surviving a SoulCycle class.  Is that your workout of choice?  Why do you like it so much?

I love spinning. I spent many years trying to find a workout that I actually enjoyed and I can honestly say that spinning has changed my life. It’s an amazing workout and so fun! When SoulCycle came to LA, I was thrilled!!

What's one piece of beauty advice you've learned that you wish you knew when you were younger. Any general advice you’ve learned?

Mandy Moore Talks Beauty, Fitness & Guilty Pleasures

I think Mandy Moore's a natural beauty.  Her dark hair compliments her flawless complexion and really makes her hazel eyes pop.  It's no wonder that the starlette is a Proactiv spokesperson.  I had the opportunity to talk to her about her fave beauty products and more. What beauty products can't you live without and why?

I never travel without my Proactiv products, I  love Aquaphor (for lips, cuticles, etc.) and an eyelash curler! Even if I’m bone tired, a little curl of the lashes makes me look more awake and refreshed.

I've read that you love Pilates, is that what keeps you in such great shape?  If not, what are your fitness secrets?

I love Pilates, as well as hiking or just taking a walk with my dogs. Mixing it up and not stressing about it all is the key.

You just voiced Rapunzel in "Tangled Ever After," which was a huge success.  What's next for you?

I'm working on another album to be out later this year as well as a TV show.

What's your guiltiest pleasure?

I don't feel guilty about any of the pleasures in life, but I’m a big TV junkie lately and love waiting for a series to make it to DVD so I can watch it all in one sitting. :)

I Broke Out! Adult Acne? Hell No!

Confession – and it's embarrassing to admit, but I'm 28 and keep breaking out! While this isn't a normal thing for me (thank God), pimples were occupying a portion of my face for about the past three weeks.  I've been feeling like an adult with acne. I blamed it on the change in seasons, Indian Summer, you know... anything I could. Let's just say a Proactiv mailing I received earlier this week couldn't have come at a better time. While I've used Proactiv products in the past, including the three step system, I haven't used them in a few months and seeing them back on my bathroom counter gave me instant relief.  I'm currently using the Renewing Cleanser, Advanced Blemish Treatment, Refining Mask and Concealor Plus.  It's like an army of benzoyl peroxide and sulfur acid attacking my face!

I've never used the Concealor Plus until now and I'm really impressed by it.  I normally use a MAC concealor if I have a blemish, but offers great coverage and has sulfur in it to help clear up pimples while it covers.  It's only been a few days and my complexion's already looking better.  Now if I can only get these bangs to grow out!

My Proactiv Attempt to Mix Business with Pleasure in New Orleans

Skincare, grits and ghost tours... oh my!  This past weekend I had the pleasure of joining Proactiv on a press trip to New Orleans for the American Academy of Dermatology Conference with some of my favorite beauty bloggers.  While our trip revolved around clear skin, you'd be a fool to think we didn't have a few hurricanes!  This group of girls knows how to party. Friday night we attended a cocktail party with the two dermatologists who created Proactiv, Dr. Katy Rodan and Dr. Kathy Fields.  Then Saturday we explored everything the AAD conference had to offer from a pretty overwhelming exhibit floor to symposiums revolving around breakthroughs in skincare and very attractive dermatologists!  I tried to wrap my head around P acne, but decided I'll leave that up to the derms to explain.

Sunday funday was not anything like my typical Sunday fundays in NYC that normally consist of watching football with Joe, red wine and cooking (well, he cooks) a delicious Italian meal.  This Sunday, I was at the Aria Spa at the Hotel Monteleone enjoying a facial with all Proactiv products and massage.  It was such a treat!  I know I should get facials more often, but truth is, I never take the time.  My facial was so thourough I still haven't put any tinted moisturizer or bronzer on because I love how clean my pores look!

None of us really seemed to care that the Superbowl was on as we found ourselves distracted by a Voodoo shop and ghost tour.  The ghost tour was centered on folklore and even though we didn't see any actual ghosts, I really enjoyed it.  The hurricanes definitely helped.

Proactiv Donates to My Fave Charity

I had the wonderful opportunity to partner with Proactiv for their 12 days of Christmas campaign (yes, I know, we're sooo over Christmas right now but bear with me) and by doing so I was able to donate $200 to my favorite charity  – Women In Need. Check out the video below to learn more about the campaign, charity and of course, a giveaway!

New Proactiv Campaign & Giveaway

I've always been fortunate enough to never had have to use Proactiv for acne, but began using some parts of the line a few weeks ago because my roommate (who has a gorgeous complexion) raves about it.  Now, I can honestly say I like the Refining Mask and Oil Free Moisturizer with SPF 15.  I recently learned that the line goes way beyond the three step system. I'm so used to seeing the commercials with Diddy, Jessica Simpson, Avril Lavigne, and now Katy Perry telling everyone to purchase the products that I never really payed attention.  One celebrity endorsement after another I began to get jaded.  Do I really think Diddy had acne and used a three-step-system?  Come on.

Their new campaign caught my eye – Be proactiv.  It showcases their A-list spokespeople in a new way.  Instead of just endorsing the product, they encourage people to "Be Proactiv," which I feel is a much stronger, positive idea.

Now for an Exclusive BeautySweetSpot Giveaway!

Check out the new campaign below and let me know what you think.  How are you Proactiv everyday?

One winner will be chosen at random on Friday, July 16th to win a full set of Proactiv products!
