Despite the fact that Blake Lively doesn't have a film in the Cannes Film Festival this year, she's been absolutely killing it on the red carpet. Whether on Ryan Reynolds's arm or not (who's actually there promoting his film, The Captive), she has been making an effort and breaking necks thanks to the glam squad with L'Oreal Paris doing her makeup looks and her couture gowns. Here are her beauty breakdowns – her lips, a constant rose story.Guccie Première
It's no secret that red carpet season is my favorite season and it kicks off this Sunday with the Golden Globes hosted by Tina Fey and Amy Poehler! Are you ready? I'll be speaking to the actors and actresses hair stylists, makeup artists and manicurists as soon as they send their talent off to the red carpet, but for now, L'Oreal's dream team gave me the 411 on their beauty predictions.
Makeup
“The red carpet is no place for natural – it’s a place to make a statement. I expect to see a return to full, unapologetic glamour. I predict lots of rich black liquid eyeliner and classic matte red mouths. Think Sophia Loren," states Billy B., L'Oreal Paris Consulting Makeup Artist.
Hair
“I predict this season we’ll see throwbacks to classic Hollywood with polished waves that move. We can also expect to see looks that are more architectural, such as bold, blunt fringe and hair that’s super sleek. As for updos, I think we’ll be seeing an element of texture incorporated into styles – like braids and twist for a bit of visual interest," explainsJohnny Lavoy.
Nails
“Nail art is huge right now and texture/dimension is going to be everywhere in 2013 – including the red carpet. As for the shades I predict we’ll see a lot of, red (from burnt winter red to deep, rich bordeaux) is always a red carpet favorite – it’s classic but timeless. Plan on also seeing bright trend tones on the young and fashion-forward ladies who want to show a bit of personality," remarks Tom Bachik.
When I went to Sundance this month with L'Oreal I was introduced to Andrea, a sweet girl from Florida who was lucky enough to be chosen as one of five women to participate in the L'Oreal Paris Academy. Academy members all go through beauty, fashion and lifestyle coaching from the pros then have opportunities to put them to the test at huge awards shows.
Andrea got to rock her skills at Sundance on the red carpet at the L'Oreal and Entertainment Weekly event that I got to attend as well. Only, I didn't have all of the coaching! Other members of The Academy got to attend other red carpet events like the SAG Awards and will attend the Golden Globes.
Just because you and I weren't picked to be part of the five in the Academy doesn't mean we can't take the classes though! I recently went online and checked out the glam courses Andrea took to prepare her for her red carpet moment (hey, you never know when you may end up on a red carpet or in the spotlight). You can check them out here. I really like the "Paparazzi Approved Red Carpet Poses" video.
I just got home from my weekend at Sundance with L'Oreal and have to tell you about Sunday's festivities. After gallivanting around Main St. (which is the quaintest little snow covered street) with Amber hitting up a swag suites and a few boutiques, we spent some time in the L'Oreal Paris & Entertainment Weekly Celebrity Suite.
Celebs like James Franco, Anne Heche, Terrence Howard and L'Oreal Spokesperson, Elizabeth Banks all stopped by throughout the weekend including some serious A-Listers that we weren't aware of (exclusive info to EW). They were all getting glammed up and then having their pics taken for EW's next issue specializing on Sundance.
Amber and I of course hit up the L'Oreal glam squad ourselves because we were attending the "Women of Vision Awards," which honored women in film later that night. At the awards cocktail party, we met Andrea Gomez, a really cool chick from Miami, who's participating in L'Oreal's Academy campaign.
After the cocktail party we took full advantage of the night by seeing perhaps the funniest movie at Sundance, Cedar Rapids starring Ed Helms. It felt great to laugh at the stupid humor after experiencing night terrors from seeing Ticket to Paradise the night before. I'm telling you, when this launches nationally, it's going to be a huge hit.
I'm so happy and honored I got to attend the film festival and hang out with L'Oreal! Now, back to reality...
Hey! I'm at Sundance and had a fabulous first day! Yes, it's cold and it's snowing, but Utah is gorgeous! Amber and I are staying at the Escala Lodge At The Canyons, which is a Hyatt hotel in the middle of the mountain and skiers are actually skiing right outside of our windows. Penn Badgley was on our flight (in first class of course) and as soon as we landed we spotted Adrian Grenier in an adorable snow hat. Two hotties in one day, not bad. Tonight we went to see Ticket to Paradise, which was perhaps the most disturbing movie I've ever seen, but well crafted. Check out my video on how I'm staying warm and stylish live from the mountains!
I'm so excited I don't know where to start! I leave early tomorrow with my friend and fellow blogger, Amber Katz of BeautyBloggingJunkie, to go to the Sundance Film Festival!
We'll be there until Monday gallivanting around the bitter cold in Park City, Utah trying to stay warm while looking chic. Besides attending film premieres and hitting up some celebrity swag suites, we'll be attending theL'Oreal Paris Women of Vision Awards on Sunday night.

I may not have been an honoree, but I felt like one! Last night I was honored to attend the 20th anniversary of the Glamour Women of the Year Awards with the fabulous women of L'Oreal Paris. I was psyched to attend because this years honorees included some of the biggest names including Julia Roberts, Cher, Donatella Versace and Fergie Ferg, but to my surprise I was more impacted by the honorees I've never heard of.
After being primped by the L'Oreal glam squad at the Technical Center and slipping into my alldressedup dress, I hit the red carpet with some of the best in beauty, Amber Katz, Polly Blitzer and Dana Oliver.
First, we received the updated media list that announced that Kate Hudson, Oprah, Hilary Swank, Kelly Osbourne, Janet Jackson, Katie Couric and Diane Sawyer were presenting. Kate Hudson! For those of you who consistently follow BeautySweetSpot you know she's my fave actress of all times – and besides Oprah... the only one who didn't walk the red carpet, but whatever, I'm over it.
The Red Carpet Scoop:
Julia Roberts came over to us to chat and called us "the cute girl corner!" Check out the video below!
Donatella Versace dished that her must have beauty product was mascara. She was also loitering around the red carpet for quite some time.
I've always admired her abs, but Fergie's booty stole the show in her form fitting orange-red gown!
I'm not sure what happened, but Tory Burch looked minuscule, I'm talking 90 pounds tiny.
Janelle Monae confessed it takes 10 people to do her hair at a time!
The awards show was completely empowering and at the same time, a tear jerker (which I didn't expect). Oprah presented Julia Roberts with an award and Kate Hudson presented to Fergie. The room was full of energy and laughter, but at times, things took a serious note.
The award that affected me the most was given to Dr. Hawa Abdi, a Somali ob-gyn who, with her two daughters, also doctors, provide for almost 90,000 people who are affected by the countries violence. Their courage is incredible and story was so touching. Katie Couric appropriately presented the award and Glamour's Women of the Year Fund will be supporting Dr. Abdi's efforts.
Glamour also partnered with L'Oreal Paris in creating a special 20th anniversary Women of the Year nail polish, $6.50 in which $3 of every bottle bought will be donated to the fund. The color is a perfect fall reddish mauve.
