When I first received images of Jessica Biel on the red carpet at the Time 100 Gala in NYC earlier this week I couldn't help but focus on how pretty she really is. When I normally look at celeb film, my eye is trained to look at trend, color and style. This time, hair and makeup took a step back and let Jessica's natural beauty shine, which was refreshing. Her makeup artist, Beau Nelson gave me the scoop on how to accentuate your features and let you shine through. Face
Pat moisturizer into your skin and around your eye area for prep. Application is everything when it comes to applying your foundation or tinted moisturizer. On Jessica, Nelson put Giorgio Armani Designer Lift Foundation on a synthetic brush and "buffed it into her face" in small circular motions.
Eyes
Define your eyes with liner and mascara, but keep them neutral. Use warm, sultry browns and taupe shadows across your lid and into the crease. For example, here's what Nelson did on Jessica. "On eyes I defined the shape with MAC Eye Pencil in Coffeeand blended shades from Tom Ford Eye Color Quads in Cognac Sable and Cocoa Mirage around the eyes. I lined the inner rim of the eye with Elizabeth Arden Smoky Eyes Powder Pencil in Espresso. I curled lashes and applied L'Oreal Voluminous Mascara in Carbon Black."
Lips
Enhance your natural lip color by choosing a lipstick or lip balm shade that matches your inner lip. Enrich the look with clear gloss. On Jessica, Nelson used NARS Satin Lip Pencil in Biscayne Park and Tom Ford Ultra Shine Lip Gloss in Peach Absolute.
