The Dish Behind Nicole Richie's Golden Globes Eye Makeup Straight from Her Makeup Artist

Nicole Richie was the first to step out on the red carpet at tonight's Golden Globes and the only one who took a risk and made a statement with her look.  Of course, one of the main Twitter debates of the night was whether or not it was a Yay or a Nay.  I just spoke with her makeup artist, Beau Nelson, to find out what inspired the crazy idea.  And just an FYI... it's BeautySweetSpot approved! When did you see Nicole's dress for the first time and what were your initial thoughts?

I saw it a few days before in pictures, and it looked a lot darker blue in the pictures, so today was the first time I saw how it actually looks.

Was it your idea or Nicole's to do the icy blue eyes to match?

Yes, I wanted to continue the theme of the dress on the face, nude and ice blue. Its probably not something I would do on anyone else, but Nicole wears everything so well i knew she could carry it off.

What was your inspiration behind her look and how would you describe it?

The dress was the inspiration, the colors and the textures were what I took into account when choosing all the products I used to create this look. Id describe it as a modern take on Hollywood glamour, with a little bit of 60's influence.

What are your tips for wearing color all the way around the eye?

Color is easier to wear on the lids when its anchored by a darker version of itself at the lash line. For this look I used Navy liner around the entire eye. Paired with the blue shadow it gave it some impact and depth so that the color wasn't overwhelming.

Nelson used Elizabeth Arden Beautiful Color Eye Shadow Single in Sky and Elizabeth Arden Beautiful Color Smoky Eyes Pencil in Midnight around Nicole's eyes.

Get Nicole Richie's Golden Globes Hair in 5 Simple Steps

As I mentioned in a previous post, Nicole Richie was one of my absolute favorite looks of the night.  I always love her style and no matter what way she wears them, she has the best bangs!  I still bring a photo of her side bangs to my stylist every time I get them trimmed.  I spoke with her Golden Globes stylist, Jenny Cho for Suave on how to get her red carpet 'do. 1. Start with clean, dry hair and spritz dry shampoo like Suave Keratin Infusion Dry Shampoo directly into the roots on the crown of your head and in the front.  Refresh your blowout with your hairdryer and a round brush working the dry shampoo into the hair to create texture.

2. Section off the hair around the crown of your head and tease it to create volume and clip it aside.

3. Use a half boar bristle, half nylon brush to smooth out your hair on the sides and back of your head pulling it back and securing it into a ponytail.

4. Take a side section and wrap it around the ponytail, securing with a bobby pin. Take the opposite side and do the same to cover the elastic.

5. Finally, take the teased crown section that you set aside and lightly smooth it back with a brush over the ponytail.  Secure with bobby pins.

Top 5 Looks of the Golden Globes

The Golden Globes red carpet had me blown away tonight!  I couldn't decide on my absolute favorite look.  I think it's a tie between Charlize Theron's sexy deep-V Dior gown paired with a glamorous headband and Jessica Alba's super feminine strapless Gucci, but I saw so many chic styles that I had to show you my top five. Nicole Richie's Updo in 5 Simple Steps

Besides being completely obsessed with Nicole Richie's style, my jaw practically dropped when I saw this pic of her from last nights Charlotte Ronson beauty launch event.  I've always been a huge fan of her hair styles and as a matter of fact, I just showed a pic of her old side bangs (again) to my stylist when I went in for a trim.  To find out how to get the look, I spoke with her stylist of the night, Andy Lecompte of Wella Professionals. 1. Dry your hair and flat iron in sections to smooth any fly aways and make it all pin straight.

2. Next, pull the top of your hair up and away in to a mo-hawk and let it fall forward and separate as you secure the rest into a super high pony at the crown of your head.

3. Hit the mo-hawk section of your hair with a blowdryer and allow it to part naturally falling over the ponytail you just created.

4. Wrap each section on either side of the part around the pony tail elastic and secure with bobby pins.

5. Smooth fly aways and finish with a shine spray like Wella Professionals Shimmer Delight Shine Spray.

Celebrity Summer Trends

Nicole Richie is absolute favorite A-Lister to date because I love her style, but then there's Kate Hudson who always looks effortlessly chic.  I always look to the runways and celebs to seek out the latest trends and am lucky enough to get the inside scoop for BeautySweetSpot. Allow me to fill you in on some of the latest celebrity inspired trends for the summer season. The Smokey Eye

I've seen this look backstage at New York Fashion Week and on celebs at red carpet events all over the world.  I like to rock it on Friday nights out in the city and finally conquered it with CoverGirl's Smokey ShadowBlast. On one end it has a color for your base shadow and the other has a matching shade for your liner and crease.  I simply apply it and smudge it with my fingers.

Dewy Skin

Glowing, bronzed skin is definitely in (as long as you achieve it the safe way), but you need to get the natural dewy look, which can be hard for those with skin care problems like acne. Starletts like Katy Perry and Avril Lavigne love Proactiv because it's been the number one acne treatment system for the past 15 years.  The three-step system targets, clears and prevents acne.  Once you have clear skin, you can achieve that dewy complexion!

Tight Body

Those white skinny jeans don't look good on everyone!  If you want to rock this summer's latest trends, but are feeling a little less than body confident you can use every celebrities secret weapon, Hanes Smooth Illusions. The Waist Smoother automatically sucks in your stomach, hips and thighs (where we need help most) and are only $15 in the hosiery section of any department store.  Compared to other shape wear I've seen, that's a bargain!
