Despite the fact that Carey Mulligan's been showing off a more minimalistic look on the red carpet for her The Great Gatsby premieres than her glamorized character Daisy in the film, they both have one thing in common – the love of being draped in diamonds. After all, they are a girls best friend. For the NYC premiere on Wednesday at Avery Fisher Hall at Lincoln Center for the Performing Arts she reportedly wore $131,500 worth of Tiffany & Co. jewels. As for her makeup, I spoke with her artist, Georgie Eisdell, to get the scoop on how to get her look.
"My inspiration for Carey's look came from her dress," Eisdell commented. "I wanted to keep the look clean and understated."
Face: For added contour and a slight pop of color, Eisdell used a very light pink blush.
Eyes: The go-to product to create depth was Chanel's Quadra Eyeshadow in Dunes. To add depth, she swiped a light brown up and over Carey's crease and then went over the lid with a darker cream shadow shade in the quad. To open her eyes, she used dark brown liner on the outer corners. After curling her lashes she applied two coats of waterproof mascara.
Lips: It only took one lip shade to get Carey's hint of color – Chanel Rouge Coco Shine Hydrating Sheer Lipshine in Interlude. (Coming out this June).
