Jennifer Hudson's Springy Oscars Makeup

Jennifer-Hudson-Oscars-MakeupJennifer Hudson's makeup was almost as impactful as her tribute performance last night.  One word to describe her look: Flawless.  I spoke with her makeup artist, Shannon Pezzetta, to find out the exact products she used to create that gorgeous smokey eye and customized lip shade, because you know you want them.

Of course her makeup prep began with a mini facial.  As it should!  Shannon Pezzetta massaged Olay Regenerist Micro-Sculpting Serum onto her face to create radiance and followed up with the Olay Regenerist Micro-Sculpting Cream to hydrate the skin and create a base for makeup.  She then used Lancome foundation as a base and highlighted her cheekbones with Cargo Blush in Laguna. Then topped it off with a dusting of Bronzing Powder in Golden by MAC.

Eyes

Using a mix of eye shadows from Stila's In The Garden Palette, Pazzetta created a smokey dark in brown eye with a hint of gold on the lid.

Lips

Of course, her lip look would be customized.  I don't expect anything less for J. Hud! Pazzetta  custom created a peachy, orange color by blending Inglot #401 with Nars Audacious Lipstick in Juliette.

The Perfect Nude Nail Polish

As of late I've been obsessed with having perfectly manicured, clean looking nails.  Not that my nails weren't clean before, but I normally painted them dark colors, which looked dirty as soon as they chipped (which for me only took about two days).  Now I'm all about the perfect neutral. My perfect neutral still hasn't been found and it's driving me insane!  I've been layering different shades like a classic blush, Essie in Mademoiselle with a beige like Iced Chai Latte and have done a ton of other combos.  Depending on how tan I am, I mix and match each week.

Cutting edge nail polish brand, RGB, came to the rescque and took all of the guess work out of finding the perfect nude.  They partnered with manicurist, Jenna Hipp, to created the Hipp X RGB collection, a perfect nude for four different skin tones.  Her inspiration was her celebrity clientele – Lauren Conrad, Jennifer Hudson, Kerry Washington and Rachel McAdams.  Check out the collection online.

Get Jennifer Hudson's Look

With her new figure and glowing complexion, Jennifer Hudson has been on everyone's radar these days.  I got the scoop from Celebrity Makeup Artist and author of The Basics of Beauty, Sam Fine, on how to achieve her  look for a recent shoot.

"Even though Jennifer has gorgeous skin, every great look begins with coverage," Fine commented.  African American skin tends to have various tones, so to even it out, he used Queen Collection Natural Hue Compact Foundation.  Because it's a cream to powder formulation, it looks very natural.

When choosing a bronzer always go one shade darker than your natural skin tone. On Jennifer, Fine dusted CoverGirl Natural Hue Mineral Bronzer to the outside perimeter of her face to create a "halo of a glow."  To add a pop of color, he used Cargo's Matte Blush in Laguna.

"I wanted to keep her eyes subtle and classic for this shoot so I went with a brown shadow by Shue Uemura," Fine remarked.  Skipping eyeliner, he went right to layering mascara to enhance her eye shape with CoverGirl LashBlast.  "It's important to allow mascara to completely dry in between coats.  Move on an do something else in between."

To perfect Jennifer's nude lip, Fine lined them with a shade darker than her natural lip color.  "One of the biggest mistakes women make is trying to perfectly match their lip liner to their lipstick," he stated.  "If you don't match it to your lips, it will look great with any shade of lipstick."  Lip liner also makes a great base for lipstick if you feather it into your lips when you're done lining.  He topped off her pout with Iman Cosmetics Luxury Moisturizing Lipstick in Citron and CoverGirl Shine Blast Lip Gloss.
