Amanda Seyfried's Hair Stylist Hints at Her Oscars Red Carpet Look

I just got off the phone with Amanda Seyfried's hair stylist, Jenny Cho, who was busy running around "fine tuning her kit" for Oscar day.  Besides working with Amanda, she's also doing Jennifer Gardner's hair on Sunday.  Eagerly awaiting the red carpet, I got the scoop from Amanda's long time stylist about what we will be seeing on Sunday and her styling must-haves. After working with Amanda for about five years, Cho says, "When we get ready for an event like this it’s magical because everything comes together from the dress to the shoes to the makeup and the hair and there’s a moment where magic happens."

Being part of the Oscars this year is extra special as Les Miserables was nominated for Best Picture, so of course, eyes will be on her!  As a tease to her dress, Cho explained it has aspects to it that are new for Amanda, hinting at the shape.

"On each red carpet event I want my clients to look their best and in doing so, sometimes hair or makeup have to sit back," she explains.  However when I asked what would take center stage this Sunday, she simply stated, "Let's just say Amanda's wearing the whole look, it's not wearing her."

As for fine tuning her stylist kit, Cho's go-to products to create the Oscar-worthy style on Sunday will be Suave Professional Moroccan Infusion Aragan Styling Oil and their Lightweight Hairspray.  The oil is a complete must-have, because it will be used from start to finish.  First, on Amanda's damp hair to prep before a blow dry.  "It helps me glide through it and allows me to start her hairstyle in the right direction," Cho explains.  Then, as a finishing touch at the end to add shine and smooth fly aways.

Steal Her Style: 3 Steps to Les Miserables Actress, Amanda Seyfried's Sexy Coif

This is how I always want my hair to look.  Yes, daily.  I love how Amanda Seyfried's stylist, Thomas Dunkin of Sebastian Professional gave her a smooth, shiny blowout with voluminous curls for the National Board of Review Awards Gala earlier this week in NYC.  The deep side part is the icing on the cake.  Here's how to get her look straight from her 'mane' man, Dunkin.

  1. After blowdrying your hair apply a texturizer or light-weight hairspray like Sebastian Professional Shaper Zero Gravity to the lengths and brush it through.  Repeat this step a couple of times until the hair is textured enough to hold hot rollers.
  2. Section your hair at random and place large hot rollers at your roots and wrap the rest of the section around it. Starting at the root adds a wave and volume to the hair rather than simply creating curls which happens when rollers are first placed at the ends.
  3. Remove the rollers once cool and run your fingers through your hair for a polished yet casual effect. Spritz with a finishing hairspray to hold.

Amanda Seyfried Celebrated Her Birthday with Cle de Peau and I Found the Perfect Lipstick at Her Party

On Tuesday night I attended Amanda Seyfried's 26th birthday party at Norwood in NYC thrown by Cle de Peau (she's the face of the brand).  The whole private club was filled with editors and we all eagerly checked out the brands Spring 2012 launches and wished Amanda a happy birthday by lighting individual candles promptly at 7pm.  The most exciting part – I found the perfect lipstick – Cle de Peau Enriched Lip Luminizer in Plum Pudding. ""I like darker lipsticks and I absolutely can't live without the Concealer stick. Clé de Peau's Mascara keeps my eyelashes curled even though they're really straight," she told People Style Watch.

While I've been a fan of Cle de Peau for years, but I just found the perfect lipstick at their lipstick bar that was set up surrounded by rock candy, maccaroons and caramel treats.  The lipsticks in the new Spring 2012 collection were all inspired by the sweets (specifically by a visit to Patisserie Valerie in London) and each have names that reflect it. There are 20 chocolates, berry and caramel shades that are super moisturizing and creamy in texture but offer a glossy like like.  The perfect combination of a lipstick and gloss if you ask me.

They're not available until February, but I absolutely can't wait to get my hands on Plum Pudding!  (I have a bunch of samples for now).  The coolest thing is that since it's a pricey lipstick (yet, well worth it), you can purchase a lipstick for $60 and then save the tube and get a color refill for $35.

Get the Look: Amanda Seyfried, "In Time" Premiere

A few days ago Amanda Seyfried attended the premiere of her new movie, In Time, in LA donning a floral, drop waist Prabal Gurung dress from their Spring 2012 collection, her classic blow out and sultry eyes.  Love her makeup look?  Read on for the how to from her makeup artist Monika Blunder. "Amanda was wearing a very colorful dress with lots of purple and pink shading and I wanted her makeup to reflect some of the same color tones," states Blunder.  "I focused mainly on a strong eye and kept the lip minimal with just a hint of pink."

Amanda's smokey eye was created  with Cle de Peau Beaute's Limited Edition Cream Eye Color in Moon Light n Night Brown.  For depth, Blunder used Night Brown (the darker grey shadow) just on the outter corners of the eyes and added a bit of Moon Light (the sparkly cream shade) on the inner corners to open her eye up.  She then traced her inner top and bottom rims with black liner and smudged it out a bit under the eye.  Three coats of mascara completed the look.

Blunder then used Cle de Pea's Cheek Color Duo in Number 2.  The color was concentrated on her cheeks and highlighter right along her cheekbones for added sheen. To finish, Extra Rich Lipstick in T9 gave her the perfect hint of pink on her lips.
