Exclusive Interview: Miss America on the Meaning of Beauty

Since this years Miss America, Mallory Hagan, hails from New York, I had to snag an interview.  As if she didn't go through enough questioning, I threw a few more at her, not about world peace (obvi), but about beauty.  In pageantry the idea of beauty plays a big role, so I had to ask, "What does beauty mean to you?"  Check out her answer along with the best piece of beauty advice she's ever gotten and favorite products. What does beauty mean to you?

Beauty to me is subjective. I think it is important to be kind and compassionate. If you treat others the way you want to be treated, they'll think of you as a beautiful person.

What are some of your go-to products for on-stage and off?

On:

1) Foundation primer - This allows my makeup to stay put for hours, even after my tap dance routine when I am moving around quite a bit and the spotlight is on me.

2) Artistry's Ideal Translucent Powder - It helps to control any shine I may have. The cameras pick up on this easily and it helps to have translucent powder to absorb any that may be there.

Off:

1) Artistry Tinted Moisturizer -It's easy to match to my skintone and it gives me the right amount of coverage I need without looking like I have to much makeup on.

2) Artistry Signature Eyes Volume Mascara -It's nice to have my lashes thick and full of volume with the amount of  interviews and  appearances I have already done.

What's the best beauty advice you’ve ever gotten and who was it from?

"Wash off your makeup every night before you go to bed...no matter what!" - A beauty brand manager.

What's your fitness regimen like?

I try to mix it up by doing thing like lifting weights, cross fit, bikram yoga, and cycling. I try to eat a really clean diet and supplement with Nutrilite vitamins and supplements.

What's your guiltiest pleasure?

Mashed potatoes!
