After a spontaneously fun and relaxing weekend with Schick in Miami, they dared me to pamper myself for a full day (I know what you’re thinking, what kind of dare is that, but wait for it…) unplugged! No tweeting my manicure polish shade, catching up with my bestie on the phone during my pedi or obsessively checking my iPhone for that big email I’ve been waiting for.
I felt like I was paralyzed. My day of pampering was more like two and a half hours and included a mani and pedi plus and extra ten minute foot massage and twenty minute back massage while my nails dried, of course (who has patience to sit under the drier).
It made me realize that I never take the time out to relax and enjoy these treatments that I get weekly. Instead they always feel more like a chore. Keeping my phone in my bag and laptop in my apartment, I flipped through weeklies and zoned out. It was awesome!
I dare you to take the challenge! Plus, I’M GIVING AWAY KATY PERRY TICKETS!Put your phone away during your next mani and pedi. Pamper yourself and get those extra ten minute massages. Make your weekly manicures pampering instead of chores. Give those texting fingers a break and really enjoy it!
Participate in the giveaway by commenting below telling me about your best “unplugged” experience. The tickets are for Katy’s LA concert on 8/6 at the Nokia Theater.
A winner will be chosen at random and announced in the comments section under this post. Good Luck.

hey jeannine.. i smiled and nodded at your whole blog today.. i am always trying to get my mani and pedi done at the same time (some days even telling them i dont need the massage {gasp} ) while checking my phone and email and calendar and calling my mom or whoever is babysitting to see how my daughter is and planning dinner for my husband. you are right! we need to unplug and enjoy what we’re doing at that moment. and ..altho this writing assignment was about writing your “unplugged” moment.. i dont have one.. yet. ill let you know tomorrow. bec my parents are coming to watch the baby and im trying out a new salon (in this new town i just moved to) that i got a full day of beauty for (massage/mani/pedi/hair/makeup) courtesy of my husband.. and no, im not making dinner tomorrow, we’re going out.
I lost my phone just a few weeks ago, on the 1st day of my destination wedding vacation and honeymoon! I had a replacement phone with a local number that very, very few people knew, so that I could get in touch with hotels, wedding vendors etc., but for the most part, I was completely unplugged for 14 days! It was absolutely wonderful, until about day 12, when I realized I would have to come back and be faced with a million emails and voicemails. Haha, it was fun while it lasted!
my best unplugged moment was in Playa Mujeres (Cancun, Mexico), being there 7 days forced me to relax for at least 3 days, I ate, talked, slept, got massages, mani pedi, went to the pool, beach. It was the BEST unplugged experience of my life.
Thanks for the giveaway!
Love u katy perry
I have to admit that right now I am currently enjoying an extended unplugged moment! I had damaged my Blackberry a few months ago so they sent me a replacement one. . . one that drains the battery after a couple hours of usage. I actually have been hesitant in fixing this problem because I love when it shuts down! Most of my friends now realize why it takes me long to get back to them . . . Therefore, I am now harder to reach and have less obligations!
