My studio apartment is now not only my office, but also my P90X home gym. As a NYer, I learned how to be creative with a small space. I’ve been working out at Club H Fitness for the past four years and it was recently bought out by Crunch, who decided to bring what seems like every one of their Manhattan members with them into what was my health club. Therefore, I needed out and after seeing my friend Tiana’s P90X results I jumped on the bandwagon. Let me tell you, I saw instant results and it’s only week three!

Two weekends ago I found myself puttying around the gym and just knew my head wasn’t into it. A “Kick It” class was about to begin and I knew if I was going to get anything out of my morning there I’d have to join. Little did I know what I was getting into. With 2.5 pound weights in hand, I lasted 30 out of 45 minutes and anxiously returned the next week again to make it only a half hour! Looks like I have a new challenge: Cardio Kickboxing, bring it on!

When I hit the gym I try to change up my routine so I don’t get bored and am constantly working different muscles. When I can, I take classes, but when they don’t fit into my schedule I’ll do a half hour of cardio and then weasel my way into the weight area (which is normally pretty crowded), carve my space out and do my thing. In other words, I push myself to do exercises I learned in classes or from my former trainer (who I miss dearly). Here’s a simple, yet killer routine I learned from my trainer that guarantees toned legs.

As someone who works out daily and takes a spin class about once or twice a week I was excited when I was invited to a SoulCycle class by the beauty girls, ‘Beauty Spin’ they call it. Going into it I thought it would be a fun Friday night activity to do with some of my collegues (bloggers and publicists) outside of work. Little did I know, what I was really about to experience. This was no bike ride in the park.

I just got scoop that Eva Longoria had a private pole dancing lesson at S Factor with Founder, Sheila Kelley, this past Wednesday at the Wilshire Blvd. location in Los Angeles. No, her private lessons aren’t for her somewhat new single life (although I’m sure she can benefit from them there too), they’re for a new striptease scene in an upcoming episode of Desperate Housewives.
While I’ve never taken S Factor classes myself, (dying to find the time), I do know that these sexy pole dancing classes are serious work outs combining ballet, yoga and striptease.
Sheila Kelley was an actress who had to play a role of a stripper and as she saw how her body changed for the better while working the pole, took on stripping for exercise. That’s where S Factor came into play. Check out the video below of the intro class.
