WPiX ‘Groom Your Groom’ Segment

VIP Pass: Yuli Ziv, Blogger, Entrepreneur and Now… Author
Meet Yuli, someone I’m lucky enough to call a friend in the industry who’s entrepreneurial skills and drive for success makes her unstoppable.
Her site, myitthings.com was one of the first user generated magazines, but most of her time is spent running the Style Coalition, working with fashion and beauty brands and celebrating social media.
Just this month she published her first book, “Blogging Your Way to the Front Row.”  Check out what she has to say…

Where did you go to college and what did you study?

I hold BA in Design of Visual Communications from Tel Aviv University – it taught me everything from branding and conceptualizing to graphic design, video and web production. I also hold MFA in Computer Art from School of Visual Arts in NYC – this program was very intense and dived deeper into both technical side of the web (I had to take classes in computer science and C++ programming – yikes!) as well as the history and theories behind digital space.  In addition, I’m a big fan of continuing education courses and took several at NYU and FIT.

What made you want to start a blog and how did you get into it?

Kyoku Sake Infused Shave Creme for Him

This Japanese skincare company seems to know a thing or two about marketing to men – just add alcohol.  Kyoku, a men’s skincare line made out of all natural ingredients from Japan, highlights sake as a key moisturizing ingredient in their shaving cream.

Of course, I had Joe (the BF) put it to the test against his stubble.  He was an immediate fan of the cooling feeling and familiar menthol-like scent, but the directions annoyed him.  ”Apply to wet skin with fingertips and let rest for two minutes.”  Since he shaves daily, Joe’s not the type of guy who has an extra two minutes to add onto his grooming routine. If your mans into really pampering himself, this stuff is essential.

A combination of silicones and yes, pure sake are to thank for the smooth shave. Available in normal and sensitive skin formulas for $34.  You can find it at Barneys or online.

After a spontaneously fun and relaxing weekend with Schick in Miami, they dared me to pamper myself for a full day (I know what you’re thinking, what kind of dare is that, but wait for it…) unplugged! No tweeting my manicure polish shade, catching up with my bestie on the phone during my pedi or obsessively checking my iPhone for that big email I’ve been waiting for.

I felt like I was paralyzed. My day of pampering was more like two and a half hours and included a mani and pedi plus and extra ten minute foot massage and twenty minute back massage while my nails dried, of course (who has patience to sit under the drier).

It made me realize that I never take the time out to relax and enjoy these treatments that I get weekly. Instead they always feel more like a chore. Keeping my phone in my bag and laptop in my apartment, I flipped through weeklies and zoned out. It was awesome!

I dare you to take the challenge!  Plus, I’M GIVING AWAY KATY PERRY TICKETS!
