Share Your Beauty Secrets

Everyone has secrets, but perhaps beauty secrets are the most fun.  I have the opportunity to share mine with you as the online Spokesperson for Dickinson’s Original Witch Hazel and want to invite you to share yours with me and the brand!

Visit DickinsonUsa.com to see my monthly beauty secrets.  They’re juicy!  And I highly encourage you to share some of yours as well.  I’ll be featuring some of the good ones on BeautySweetSpot as well as tweeting about them!

Nailing in the Nude

Among this season’s prettiest and most attainable runway trends comes in the form of a tiny glass bottle containing a liquid in a lovely, modest shade: nude nail polish.  Marc Jacobs and Michael Kors both had their models sport nude nails on the catwalk.  For quite a while now, we have loved our vernis to make a statement, and to make it loud and clear.

But perhaps a more subtle approach would better suit the more mature and refined looks coming down the runway as of recent, from vamp to nautical to safari.  After all, the bold nail does sometimes end up dictating our outfits (what really matches with shimmery aqua nail polish?).

The nude nail gives you the advantage of looking put together and polished (pun intended!).  It doesn’t scream, “Look over here!” Rather, it whispers, “…but even if you do, I’m prepared!”  There are a variety of shades that you can experiment with, from sheer pinks and flesh tones to ivories and peaches.  Even clear polish, light grays, or naked and beautifully buffed nails are fair game. Any of these options will be certain to give you a grown-up finish and let the true you shine through. So ladies, lacquer up and tone it down!

A Serious Stiletto Ban

Living the fast paced life in New York City, every fashionista has the skills to run in stilettos, but work in stilettos?  No probelm… right?  The shoes are part of a New Yorkers every day lifestyle as it is in other areas of the world.  Plus, there’s just something sexy about slipping into a pair of heels no matter what the occasion, even if it is just to sit in an office all day long.

Unfortunately, the ladies across the pond in London had to face Congress on their fight to ban stilettos in the workplace last fall. According to the BBC, this new ruling was intended for companies who required women to wear heels as part of their uniform. Their reasoning came from the Society of Chiropodists and Podiatrists that stated that heels can cause lower limb injuries that could cost up to two million working days a year.

Lindsay Lohan Goes Brunette

I’m debating… does anyone besides myself even care about Lindsay Lohan anymore? Well, either way, I’m excited because she recently dyed her hair (and extensions) dark brown again and I love her as a brunette.  I got the scoop on the shade..

Redken Creative Consultant and Celeb Colorist, Tracey Cunningham, mixed two shades to accomplish the shiny, fresh color Lindsay’s sporting this spring.  Like the look?

John Frieda Offers Free Natasha Bedingfield Concert

Watch out brunettes and red heads! John Frieda has formed a Sheer Blonde Entourage to prove that blondes have more fun by throwing various events across the country exclusively for blondes.  Being a brunette, I have to disagree with him, and will follow his challenge closely.  I would never trade in my dark brown hair!

His first event kicks off tomorrow night in NYC (brunettes and all other hair colors are welcome) with a Natasha Bedingfield concert. Check out www.ForBlondesOnly.com for deets about all of his festivities and if you want to attend tomorrow night’s show you can also call (732) 887.7214 for free tickets!
