Merry Christmas BeautySweetSpot Readers

Happy Holidays!

Check out the Christmas card the Kardashian’s sent out this year (left).  Yes, they have some new additions to the family, but somehow Ryan Seacrest made it into the family portrait!

Eat, drink, and be beautiful.

American Apparel Launches Polish Line

Known for their eccentric approach to advertising, colorful basics that you can mix and match and their vertically integrated fashion line, American Apparel has expanded into the beauty world by introducing an 18-shade nail polish line.

“Like our clothing, the palette is intended for year-round use,”  American Apparel Creative Director, Marsha Brady, told WWD

American Apparel’s color palette is very universal, so it was only a matter of time until CEO, Dov Charney, decide to translate the style into the beauty world.  Free from harsh chemicals such as dibutyl phthalate, toluene and formaldehyde, the polish line is inspired by some of the characteristics of what makes this LA based company stand out.

You can order a single color for $6.00 or a three pack for $15.00 online.

Last Week To Vote

This is it… it’s been a good year.  So have you been naughty or nice?  It’s hard to say, but after reading some of these interviews… it doesn’t look like all of these men are going to be getting gifts from Santa.  Josh, Paul, and John all seem like nice guys, but Bobby D. and Tim seem a little rowdy.

You be the judge and VOTE one of them to be BeautySweetSpot’s 2009 Man of the Year.  Voting ends on December 31st and the winner will be announced on New Years Day!

Man of the Year will receive an ultimate grooming gift pack loaded with AXE products (yes, the ladies will come running like they do in the commercials). AXE products will include: AXE Instinct Deodorant Body Spray, AXE Instinct Deodorant Stick, AXE Dark Temptation Shower Gel, AXE Detailer, Axe Itch Relief 2 in 1 Cooling Anti-Dandruff Shampoo + Conditioner, AXE Smooth and Sophisticated Look Shine Pomade and the Swiss Army Traveling Toiletry Kit.

Click on the names below to see their full Man of the Week interviews.

The Jersey Shore Blow Out

Confession: Believe it or not, I, yes the founder of BeautySweetSpot herself, used to date guys with blowouts. The stereotypical Jersey Shore type was somewhat my type back in the day… well, not quite Jersey Shore, but I can thank the guidos of Staten Island and Brooklyn for this.

Thanks to The Daily News now men everywhere who inspire to perfect the coif can do just that.  They highlighted a step by step guide on how to get Pauly D.’s blowout from MTV’s The Jersey Shore.  He credits his perfectly sculpted do to Joico’s Ice Spiker and Got2b Glued Spiking Freeze Spray .  From my experience, having tons of guido and want-to-be guido friends, you can also get the look with AXE Whatever and Hair So Shine (made for African American hair).

It’s remarkable to me that Pauly D. is from Rhode Island and not the Jersey Shore and can’t even get the fist pump right, making him a want-to-be guido, which makes me sick and so does the show.  I’ve grown up loving the Jersey Shore life of Belmar and Pt. Pleasant, and yes, even the guidos that come with it, but this show is repulsive.

What are your thoughts of MTV’s Jersey Shore?  Check Pauly D.’s video below.

RapidLash Giveaway

I’m sure you’ve already heard the buzz about RapidLash.  You might have seen lash and brow enhancement product on The Today Show, Tyra or The View, but if you’re not already familiar, let me acquaint you.  You can thank me later.  Tonight, ten lucky BeautySweetSpot readers will win a tube of RapidLash valued at $50 each!

RapidLash is serum that enhances the appearance of your lashes and brows in 30 days.  I started seeing results in two weeks. Only $50, a fraction of the cost of Latisse ($120), you can pick it up at your local drugstore.  I was first introduced to the brand a little over a year ago and was intrigued by the claims.  Can a serum really give me the lashes and brows create every day through illusions with pencil and mascara?

I began using it on both my lashes and brows and sure enough I began to notice a difference.  The real selling point was my eyebrows.  Treaded a little too thin, the hairs in the inner corners were sprouting up and gaps were filling in.  When I pointed out the growth to people, they were amazed.  Yes, my lashes were growing too, but to others, the growth was really visible in my brow area.

One of my friends, Kerri of GlimmerGlossGlow, documented her lash and brow growth while using RapidLash. Check out her before and after pics throughout a four week time span.

Win a tube of RapidLash!  I have 10 to giveaway!  Here’s how to win:

  • Follow @BeautySweetSpot and @RapidLash on Twitter (you must be a follower of both for a chance of winning)
  • Tonight between the hours of 8 and 9pm EST I will be Tweeting instructions for the give away
  • The more you participate, the better your chances are of winning
  • The winners will be announced immediately following

Good Luck!
